NFL 2019 – Week 3 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

The main body of matches in week three of the NFL season takes place in the two regular kick off times, with some really good looking games among them as the competition continues to flatten out a little.

The third week of the campaign began with a tight battle on Thursday night and we’ll get some more of them on Sunday but there are a few games which jump off the page as being good ones to keep us entertained.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

As always there is a main live TV game in the UK in these matches and it sees the two exciting quarterbacks of the season so far going at it when Patrick Mahomes takes on Lamar Jackson as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Baltimore Ravens. There is one divisional match in this set of games too which sees the New England Patriots taking on the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium.

There isn’t a huge number of matches in this first kick off time for once but of those which are being played the Dallas Cowboys will be expected to maintain their perfect start to the season when they host the Miami Dolphins who look an absolute shambles. Green Bay Packers are another side who have won both their matches to date and they host the winless Denver Broncos at Lambeau Field while two 1-1 teams collide when the Indianapolis Colts take on the Atlanta Falcons. The same records apply to the Minnesota Vikings and the Oakland Raiders and they do battle too. The other match in the early session sees Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Detroit Lions.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

It is off to California for the TV match in this slot of matches as the 2-0 San Francisco 49ers take on the Pittsburgh Steelers who are still looking for their first win of a tough campaign to date. That is a bit of a surprising choice with the match between the Seattle Sounders and the New Orleans Saints looking a more attractive game. The other three matches in this slot sees Los Angeles Chargers hosting the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals facing the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers welcoming the New York Giants to Florida.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the night. Green Bay Packers are 2-0 for the season but they’ve only scored 31pts in their two matches and I’m not convinced they will get many more against the Denver Broncos. The same works the other way though. They have just 30pts in their two losing efforts so neither of these offenses are firing on all cylinders I think it is fair to say. In what might turn into a bit of a defensive battle 41.5pts feels a little on the low side especially with there being no sign of Flacco getting anything going for the visitors. I’ll play the under in this one.

San Francisco 49ers have started the season well and you would think their offense is going to continue to go well against the Pittsburgh Steelers but I don’t necessarily see the visitors rolling over meekly just because Ben Roethlisberger has gone down. To be fair to Mason Rudolph he didn’t look too bad when he came into the game last week so it could be that a 44.5pt line is a little on the low side here. The addition of Minkah Fitzpatrick should help the Steelers defence but whether it can do it enough straight away I’m less sure of. I think the over is the play here.
