NFL 2020 – Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals Tips and Betting Preview

The final match of what has been a very entertaining week in the NFL comes along in the Monday Night Football which sees two AFC North rivals going at it when the Cincinnati Bengals host the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers go into this match knowing they have already won the division but successive defeats have dented their hopes of topping the AFC standings so they really need a win here. The Bengals have been playing for pride for a while now.

Cincinnati Bengals

It would be stretching the truth to state that this season ever truly got going for the Cincinnati Bengals but it certainly wasn’t helped when their number one draft pick Joe Burrow got injured during the campaign. What was already a tough campaign being in such a hard division got a whole lot harder when he went down and they have never really recovered. They are now in a position where they are waiting for the season to end.

The Bengals go into this match off the back of a run which has seen them win just one win in their last nine matches. Nothing is working amazingly well for them but it is offensively where they are really struggling at the minute. They have only scored 50pts in their last five matches which is a concern even allowing for the fact they are without their starting quarterback. In the main their defence hasn’t been too bad but it got scorched last week.

Pittsburgh Steelers

After the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens in the delayed match from Thanksgiving Day there was thoughts that they could go on and complete the perfect season. Things haven’t gone to plan since then though as they have lost both their matches. The defeat last week to the Buffalo Bills wasn’t a terrible result but losing to the Washington Football Team was a result that nobody saw coming and actually threw up a concern or two.

The obvious one of those being that their offense has suddenly dipped in form and they will be looking to get that side of the ball functioning properly again before the play-offs start if they are going to have a decent tilt at the Super Bowl title. The one good thing is their defence hasn’t been torn apart in either defeat so they only need to improve in one area to get back to doing what they were at the beginning of the season.

Betting

Pittsburgh Steelers are being asked to cover a two score handicap in this match which is perfectly understandable and they might well manage to do it but on the road after a couple of defeats the win will just be the focus rather than the scoreboard. In saying that even though it is a big start on their side I can’t be having the Cincinnati Bengals carrying any of my money so I’m going to head to the point market for my bet here.

The line isn’t the highest at 41 but when you think that the Bengals haven’t scored more than 10 points in four of their last five matches it is still probably too high for this one, especially with the Steelers suddenly struggling on offense a little. There is a rivalry nature to this game with both teams being in the same division so that is likely to make this one a little more competitive as well and when you throw it all in the pot I think that comes out with the match totalling less than 41pts.
