A big Sunday in the NFL concludes with the Sunday Night Football which this week comes from Lambeau Field as the oldest rivalry in the league is played out once again when the Green Bay Packers host the Chicago Bears.
A win for the Packers will all but sew up the NFC North title although they would still need another win or a loss for Minnesota to completely win the division. Pride is all that is on the table for the Chicago Bears here.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers go into this match off the back of their bye week so they will have been able to get those who were carrying niggles a little healthier and they have had a week to deal with the lingering Covid-19 issues they have been having as well. They will resume their season with a 9-3 record but that isn’t good enough to hold the number one seeding in the NFC so they will have carried that motivation through the bye week and will look to come out firing here.
Although the Packers are 9-3 for the season, they have lost two of their last four matches but they gave arguably their best display of the campaign against the Los Angeles Rams in their last match. The Packers defence showed up in a big way in that match and if they do that here then you would imagine they will have more than enough on offense to not just get the job done here but lay down a bit of a statement in terms of the scoreboard.

Chicago Bears
It is hard to remember now but at one stage the Chicago Bears were 3-2 for their season and were dreaming of a campaign in the playoffs. Six defeats in seven matches later, with a very unconvincing win over the Detroit Lions in between those losses, and they are 4-8 and even were they to win out from here it isn’t likely to be enough to secure a playoff spot. A win over the Packers would restore some pride on their season though.
Much of the last seven matches have seen the Chicago Bears in the hands of Andy Dalton at quarterback but it is Justin Fields who will return from injury to lead them in this one. You get the impression though that if the Bears are going to have any success in this match their defence is going to have to make a lot of plays. Fields himself will need to come to the party because the Green Bay rush defence has been a strength in recent times.
Betting
These Sunday Night Football matches have a habit of being closer than they look on paper but I just can’t see where the Chicago Bears keep close to the Green Bay Packers unless there are some freak plays. I think the Packers are too smart for that though so I think them to cover 10.5 points has to be the bet here. They won by 10 when these two met in the reverse fixture so with home advantage and off the back of a bye week I expect them to win by more here.
The Packers will look to shackle the run and make Justin Fields make plays down the field to beat them but if Matthew Stafford and the array of options he has at his disposal couldn’t get the job done against this patched up Green Bay pass rush and secondary then I don’t really see Fields dominating with options that are nothing like as good. Chicago aren’t playing great ball at the minute and the Packers are fresh and off a statement win. I expect Rodgers to continue to dominate the Bears here.
