NFL 2021 – Tennessee Titans @ Los Angeles Rams Tips and Betting Preview

The final match of another busy Sunday in the NFL comes in the Sunday Night Football which until last week had an outside chance of being a dress rehearsal for the Super Bowl when the Los Angeles Rams host the Tennessee Titans.

These two sides are both in strong contention to win their division and give themselves a good shot at the playoffs, although the Titans suffered a huge blow to their chances last week, whereas the Rams might have enhanced theirs.

Los Angeles Rams

If they hadn’t run into the Arizona Cardinals at the wrong time, the Los Angeles Rams could have been 8-0 for the season. As it is 7-1 isn’t exactly a bad beginning to their campaign and a win here would make them 8-1 and they would be looking incredibly strong for a place in the playoffs as they chase a spot at their own Super Bowl party. They would be able to limp home for a wildcard spot but they have their sights on the division title and possibly the number one seed in the NFC.

The Rams were going well enough this season anyway but they basically signed up to an all or nothing tilt at the Super Bowl this term when they traded for defensive star Von Miller to go into their elite defence as they go hunting the quarterback with a regularity that not many teams are able to do. When you add that on top of an offense which is looking incredibly potent under the guidance of Matt Stafford you have a very strong and dangerous football team.

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans moved to 6-2 for their season with a win over the Indianapolis Colts and they are in complete control of the AFC South now. Their overtime win last week was their fourth success in a row so the Titans were really beginning to roll and perhaps looking at the highest seed possible in the AFC when you consider the inconsistencies the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs are showing at present this term.

That might all change now that leading rusher Derrick Henry has been ruled out for the season. It would be wrong to say that he was their entire offense but he was the man who ground defences down and made life easier. The Titans moved quickly to add Adrian Peterson to their ranks so the drop off isn’t quite as extreme as it might have been but it is still pretty big. The other thing to factor in is this Titans defence is not the best. They have conceded 30+ in two of their last three matches which highlights that.

Betting

I’m expecting a lot of points here. The Los Angeles Rams are nicely equipped to go after this Titans defence but Tennessee have enough about them that they can still put up enough points to ensure the 52.5 point line is covered in this one. While it would be helpful if Derrick Henry was around I still think the Titans will be able to run the ball, even if it isn’t to the level they might have done with the powerhouse in their ranks for this match.

Ryan Tannehill will be under pressure from the Rams pass rush but Julio Jones was seen in practice this week which is a boost and Mike Vrabel should be able to dial up some plays that allows his quarterback to get the ball out of his hands quickly. I’m expecting an extremely offensive contest here even allowing for the quality of the Rams’ defence and when the final play is made in this one I expect to have seen at least 53 points here.
