The NFL action this week isn’t just reduced to Christmas Eve, there is a triple header of games on the slate for Christmas Day and they being at the Hard Rock Stadium where the Miami Dolphins look to keep hold of a wildcard spot when they host the Green Bay Packers.
Miami have had to concede the AFC East title to the Buffalo Bills but will still be looking for as high a seeding as possible in the playoffs. Green Bay kept their playoff hopes alive on Monday night and need to win here to stay in the hunt.
Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins were setting quite a pace at the top of the AFC East for the first half of the season but as the Buffalo Bills got stronger the Dolphins have found the pace a little hard to maintain and they now occupy the final playoff spot in the AFC after a run of three defeats on the spin, the latest being the loss to the Bills. The fins are not yet secured of their playoff berth and will be looking to end their slump here and keep a growing chasing pack at bay.
You would have to say that the Dolphins have lost to three decent teams in that run and there is nothing to suggest that the Packers are in that mould but even so those are the matches they will need to be winning when January arrives so coming up short in them will be frustrating. They need to get back to overpowering teams on offense but whether the weather conditions will allow for that remains to be seen. You fear a bit for Miami if they end up relying on their defence.

Green Bay Packers
It looked like the season was over for the Green Bay Packers when they slumped to 4-8 for the year but the usual win over the Chicago Bears before the bye week and a routine victory against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night has kept the Cheeseheads alive still. They are going to need to win out from here and hope that help comes their way in order for them to extend their season. It is a long shot but with three teams above them in the race having tough assignments on Saturday, Green Bay could throw themselves right into the mix with a win here.
If Green Bay are going to win this then you would imagine they will ride the back of their two running backs A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones. Not only are they providing the best output on this Packers’ offense but they are also likely to keep Tua and the powerful Miami offense off the field. Green Bay showed up defensively to keep the Rams to just a dozen points last week but it is likely to be tested a lot more here.
Betting
Both teams go into this match with questions to answer. Miami need to prove that their three game losing streak is purely because they played tough teams on the road while Green Bay need to show they can go on the road and beat a team with a winning record to keep their season alive. In that situation I would rather have faith in the offenses of these two sides than the defences. We know there is power to this Miami offense but Christmas Day with the eyes of the nation on him? That sounds like the perfect recipe for him to show he can still deliver at this level.
The Green Bay offense has finally come to the party in recent times. They have put 24 points or more up in four of their last five matches and this Miami defence leak points at a pretty large rate. Miami have stumbled offensively of late but they have played some top defences and although Green Bay might be able to keep Tyreeq Hill quiet if Jaire Alexander has a big game, shackling the rest of the offense might be harder. This feels like a game which won’t take a lot to explode into life so I like over 48.5 points here.
