NFL – Sunday Night Football: Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview

The final match in the NFL on Sunday comes from Heinz Field in Pittsburgh as the Pittsburgh Steelers look to bounce back from last week’s shellacking by the Philadelphia Eagles when they host the Kansas City Chiefs in an all-AFC battle.

Consistency isn’t a word you would use to describe either of these sides so far this season so predicting what could happen is a risky business but we do know this one will have long term implications for both with both sides looking to win their divisions.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers will be reeling from that defeat to the Eagles last week. It wasn’t so much the defeat that will have hurt them it was the margin and manner of it that will have sent shockwaves through their locker room and it will be interesting to see what their response to it is here.

That defeat exposed weaknesses in their defence but we knew they had them anyway. What was more worrying was how out of sync their offense looked and that is something they will need to improve on if they are to win the division and go deep in the playoffs. They can’t just rely on Antonio Brown to lead the way.

Kansas City Chiefs

Just like the Steelers, the Chiefs go into this match 2-1 but they have had very differing matches. They won a shootout in sensational style in their opening week before a tame defeat to Houston in week two and then they dominated an average Jets side last week with Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing a stupid six interceptions.

One concern for the Chiefs will be the fact that their offense has only scored one touchdown in the last two matches and that will put a lot of pressure on the defence to stop what is still a pretty potent offense even if it is struggling for a little bit of continuity. Their defence is good but it might need to be.

Betting

I can understand why the Steelers are being written off but one bad performance doesn’t make a bad team and I’m not going to desert them just yet. Philadelphia were excellent last week but I’m not so sure Alex Smith can run his offense in the same way Carson Wentz did.

The other thing to throw in of course is home advantage which is often a big thing for the Steelers. They do have weaknesses on defence and we shouldn’t ignore that but the Chiefs aren’t that explosive on offense so I think Pittsburgh Steelers can get this one done with an offense that has a point to prove.
