The final match of the NFL action on Sunday is another divisional clash as the Dallas Cowboys host the Philadelphia Eagles in the Sunday Night Football. Not only is this a key match in the NFC East but it is a battle between two rookie quarterbacks so the future is very much part of this one not just the present.
Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott has begun his NFL career in fine style and as such the Dallas Cowboys head into this match with a 5-1 record. He has been calm under pressure and there has been some pressure as the Cowboys have won a couple of close matches. One of the reasons for their success has been their ability to control the clock with the amount of running plays they have run with Ezekiel Elliott having a great start to his rookie season too.
After defeat to the New York Giants in the opening match of the season, a defeat which was only by one point, the Cowboys have now won their last five matches and head into this one off the back of a bye week with their confidence sky high. There was talk that Tony Romo would return for this match but that isn’t going to be the case.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles haven’t had a bad start to the season either having won four of their opening six matches under their rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. Wentz started the campaign really well but unravelled a little bit in the face of some strong defence but he and his side bounced back well to be the first team to knock off the Minnesota Vikings last week.
The Eagles have really upped their game on defence this season which has taken the pressure off their offense although that area of their side has been equally impressive. If the defence can control Dallas’ run game then you would think the Eagles would have every chance of coming through this one and in a division where every side has a winning record that could be huge.
Betting
I don’t think there will be much in this match. I fancy Dallas with home advantage and off the back of a bye week but they are short to back to win and I don’t think they’ll win by a landslide or anything so the handicaps don’t really appeal to me which leads me to the player markets.
The market I particularly like is the one for the receiving yards of Cole Beasley which looks very low at 40.5. He has been Prescott’s go to man when he has needed to complete an important pass and with Dez Bryant unlikely to play I’m expecting the wideout to get plenty of targets here.
Beasley may well be covered for large parts of the match but even if he is we’re only looking at him needing to catch three or four passes for this one to come home. Given his status in this offense now I expect that to happen.
