Paris 2024 Olympics – Other Sports Monday 29th July Tips and Betting Preview

The Paris 2024 Olympics continues on Monday where there is plenty of sporting excellence on show in the French capital on a day where no fewer than 19 gold medals will be won and lost around the various venues.

There are a number of top sporting names on show over the course of Monday with the likes of Tom Daley, David Popovici, Max Whitlock and Tom Pidcock all expected to contend for medals over the course of the third day of the Games.

Other Sports

As always at these Olympics a number of other sports are continuing over the course of the day on Monday. We’ve already previewed the tennis and that mouth-watering clash between Djokovic and Nadal elsewhere on this site but also on Monday there is the continuation of the women’s Rugby Sevens where we will play down to the semi-final stage while popular sports such as rowing, hockey, volleyball, handball, boxing and basketball all continue on their journeys as well as much more.

Hockey

There isn’t a huge amount that I like on Monday while we wait for some of the sports to head towards their finals but in the women’s hockey competition I do think the Netherlands can cover a 1.5 goal handicap when they go up against Germany in the penultimate match to start on what is a busy day in the women’s event. The Dutch are the overwhelming favourites to win the gold medal and are expected to win this with the bit in hand.

The Dutch have won the last four meetings between these two sides including two of them last month where they were 4-0 winners in one game and 1-0 in the other but since then in friendlies and their opening match here they have gone goal crazy, bagging 25 goals in their last three outings. Things have been a bit more of a struggle for this German side and with the Dutch determined to get their qualification sorted as early as possible I think they will win this by two or more.

Beach Volleyball

There is another packed day of action in the beach volleyball competition where the atmosphere has been excellent so far and two of the teams who have already entertained us once close out the evening session in the women’s event as the American pair of Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth, bronze medallists at the World Championships, meet the Tokyo silver medallists of Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar in that should be a good game with the winner through to the knockout stage.

Nuss and Kloth overcame the Canadian pair in their first match where the defence that they displayed was of a different level but to be fair to the Canadians, who have since gone on and lost their second match, they made the first set a close affair. The Australians were involved in a cracker in the first match, eventually winning 16-14 in the deciding set and I wouldn’t be surprised if this one goes to three sets. These two pairs have met 11 times in the past with Nuss and Kloth winning on seven occasions but five of those have gone the distance. This doesn’t feel like a match which will have a run of points on either side so over 79.5 points feels like a good play.
