Premier League 2021-22 – Saturday 12th March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

After a bunch of matches were played in the Premier League on Thursday evening we are left with just the three games on a very bare looking Saturday in the top flight, but a day which remains fairly important nevertheless.

Despite the shortage of matches we still have the usual two games on TV to enjoy and then I’m sure those who want to be able to keep track of the other game will know the various ways and means of doing so by now.

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Liverpool (12.30 – BT Sport 1)

The opening match of the afternoon sees Brighton and Hove Albion hosting title chasing Liverpool in an encounter when the Reds will be looking to put a little bit of pressure on Manchester City by moving to within three points of them with a win.

Brighton are in a bit of limbo at the minute. They are perfectly safe but they won’t want what was a very good first half of the season to fizzle out and leave them thinking of what might have been. That should act as some sort of inspiration for the Seagulls, who have been known to trouble the bigger boys, but Liverpool look to be playing to a high level at the minute. They are warm favourites as you would expect and I think that is justified but I’m always reluctant to get involved in these early games when a side has been involved in Europe in midweek so I’ll let Liverpool win if that is what happens.

Brentford vs Burnley (15.00)

The middle match of the day is the one which is huge at the bottom end of the table when Brentford will look to ease and concerns on them being relegated when they host a Burnley side who are once again looking to keep their noses above water and remain in the division.

It might be that the experience Burnley have of being in this position is a real positive in this match. A win will move them to within three points of their opponents here but perhaps more importantly it would move them above Everton and Leeds United who don’t play until later in the weekend. Brentford will be nine points above the drop zone if they win this and while they wouldn’t be completely safe, the pressure will be off for a little while. I sense this is a match Burnley will think they can win and I wouldn’t be surprised if they do win but there is enough doubt to make me swerve this one.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur (17.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Football)

The final match of the day comes from Old Trafford and it feels absolutely huge in the race for the top four when two sides chasing that spot meet as fifth placed Manchester United host a Tottenham Hotspur who begin the day two places below them.

Spurs will know they have games in hand of their opponents here and they will also go above United with victory here which would mean those matches to come will be an opportunity to pull clear of them. It is Arsenal they are both chasing and United will move above the Gunners with a win here while Spurs will go level with their rivals so this is a huge match. It is a contest that I see being high scoring too. You would think the home side will be out to prove a point after the criticism they faced after the derby last week while Tottenham have shown under Antonio Conte that they can go away and win at tough places such as Manchester City and Leicester City. They gave as good as they got on both occasions and can certainly threaten this Red Devils back line but I’m less convinced they will keep a clean sheet of their own. This just feels like a match which will have goals in it and I like over 2.75 goals in this one.
