The Premier League weekend is completely split up this week with five matches on Saturday and a further five on Sunday. That leaves us with a bare looking first day of action but one which still has the usual three kick off slots.
That means that we also have the regular two matches live on TV to enjoy in the UK and then assuming all the other matches pass the storm that is hitting the country there are all the other ways to keep up with them.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)
Arsenal vs Newcastle United (12.30 – BT Sport 1)
Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa (15.00)
Liverpool vs Southampton (15.00)
Norwich City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (15.00)
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Leeds United (17.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The action begins in the capital on Saturday as Arsenal look to bounce back from their mauling at Anfield last week when they play host to Newcastle United who will have Eddie Howe in the dugout for the first time since he took charge of the Magpies. That is the first televised game with the second one coming much later in the day as a very watchable Brighton and Hove Albion side host a Leeds United who are equally as entertaining but could probably do with the three points a little more than their opponents.
We have three matches in the traditional 3pm kick off slot and with Chelsea and Manchester City not in action until Sunday, Liverpool have the chance to close the gap on those two when they welcome Southampton to Anfield. Two Premier League greats collide in the dugout at Selhurst Park as Patrick Vieira and his Crystal Palace side host Steven Gerrard and his Aston Villa outfit while at Carrow Road, Dean Smith looks to guide Norwich to the fringes of safety when they host high flying Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Betting
In the conditions that are doing the rounds in the country on Saturday I think the ability to go a little more direct from back to front could be a benefit so the fact that Wolverhampton Wanderers have Raul Jimenez to play into and off of makes me think they might have an advantage against a Norwich City side who have won successive matches going into this round of games, but in Brentford and Southampton they haven’t beaten a huge amount it has to be said.
To be fair to Wolves they are performing much better than I expected them to do and could well run their finish in their first season back at this level under Nuno close this term. This might not be a day for their wonderful technical football but there is a physical edge to this Wolves team in both boxes and that is something that Norwich are lacking. While I am reluctant to back anyone with confidence in these conditions, this matchup looks like the one which can be best exploited to me.
