Premier League 2021-22 – Saturday 30th October Matches Tips and Betting Preview

We reach the 10 game mark in the Premier League this weekend and those fixtures begin on Saturday when seven matches take place up and down the country with three valuable points up for grabs on a day where the perceived top four are all in action.

It is very rare that we get the big four in action on one Saturday but that is the case here. What is less rare is that we get a couple of TV matches to bookend the day and the usual other ways of keeping up to date with the other ones.

Early Kick Off

The early kick off this week comes from the King Power Stadium where Leicester City will look to continue their recent upturn in fortunes when they host Arsenal. The Foxes have won their last four matches in all competitions and have got themselves into the top half of the Premier League table, one match ahead of Arsenal who are also in a decent unbeaten spell themselves, even though they haven’t always been convincing in that spell.

3pm Matches

We have five matches in what used to be the traditional 3pm slot on Saturday and three of the big four are on show in it. The champions Manchester City are only third in the table heading into the weekend but they will be looking for all three points when they host Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium. The leaders are of course Chelsea, who will be aiming for three points when they make the long trip to St James’ Park to take on a Newcastle United side playing on home turf without Steve Bruce in charge for the first time since he was axed.

Liverpool had a fine win at Old Trafford last weekend and they will be looking to build on that when they play host to a Brighton and Hove Albion side who are no longer pushovers for anyone. The other two matches affect the bottom part of the table rather than the top at this stage. Burnley will go in search of a first win of the season when they welcome Brentford to Turf Moor, while in the other match Watford host Southampton in a match neither will want to lose given how tight things are behind them in the table.

Late Game

The final match of what really does look like a decent Saturday in the Premier League comes from the capital where Tottenham Hotspur host a Manchester United side who were embarrassed in front of their own fans by Liverpool last week and who will want to offer up a serious bounceback. Tottenham also lost to close rivals last week in a match they never really showed up in either, so I think it is fair to say that both teams have more than a bit to prove in this one.

Betting

There are one or two bets on the card that I was eyeing up but fancied teams play inferior foes and with the Champions League back in midweek I’m acutely aware that they might have no interest in covering handicaps or anything like that, so I’ll rein myself in and take just the one bet which comes in the later game where Tottenham Hotspur play host to Manchester United in a match which must naturally contain goals.

I understand the argument that two managers under pressure will look to tighten up and get a result here but I don’t think either can. Neither of these two teams have defensive personnel good enough to do that. You have to point out that Spurs haven’t got much going offensively under Nuno and even now his dismissal looks just a matter of time to me. He was a dud of an appointment in the first place. That being said, it would be really worrying if Spurs can’t create chances against a United side who have shipped nine goals in their last two Premier League matches and who look an out and out mess at the back. The Red Devils have a point to prove here though and I fancy that we’ll see the best of their qualities in their attacking play where there is no doubts over their capabilities, and in Tottenham they might just have the perfect dance partner to take the frustrations of last week out on. Both teams should fancy their chances of winning this and if they do we should see over 2.5 goals quite comfortably.
