The Premier League weekend continues on Sunday afternoon when the race for the top four and the battle to avoid the drop are in the spotlight once again in the three matches that take place in what is becoming a fascinating finale to the season.
Two of the three matches will be live on the TV for us in the UK to sit back and enjoy and given that importance of the other one I’m sure there will be plenty of regular updates on it throughout the afternoon.
Everton vs Chelsea (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The first of the two TV matches comes from Goodison Park where the need for points for Everton got even more significant after the comeback victory for Burnley on Saturday. They host the FA Cup finalists Chelsea in a huge clash.
Everton haven’t been too bad at home under Frank Lampard and the Toffees will hope that the visitors will have a bit of sympathy with one of their legends. Chelsea haven’t been terribly convincing in recent times but they do have a good away record in the Premier League this term, although they failed to beat Manchester United in midweek which isn’t a great form guide. If there wasn’t so much pressure on them here I might have backed Everton to get something from this match. We know that Goodison Park is a tough place to go and I didn’t think the Toffees were as bad as it was suggested in the Merseyside derby last week. They should be the fresher of the two here but I don’t trust them quite well enough to warrant backing them.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester City (14.00)
The one match which isn’t on TV in the UK on Sunday will begin the race for the top four attention when Tottenham Hotspur look to move above their rivals Arsenal for a few hours when they entertain Leicester City in London.
Spurs need a positive result here because they have hit the buffers in their last two matches. Usually though they are very solid at home and the might just have the ideal opponent to revive their from here because Leicester City will surely have more than one eye on the second leg of their European semi-final on Thursday night. Brendan Rodgers is expected to make changes to his side for this match and defensively is one area where he is likely to make them which will certainly interest this quality Spurs attacking unit. Rodgers will look to utilise pace on the counterattack though so I don’t think Leicester will go in without looking to score. Matches between these two have a tendency to be high scoring with the last two being 4-2 and 3-2 wins for Tottenham. They have also enjoyed 5-4 and 6-1 victories over the Foxes and while this one might not be as high scoring as that there is no reason to think this one will be scarce of goals.
West Ham United vs Arsenal (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The final match of the day comes from the London Stadium where Arsenal will look to respond to whatever Spurs do earlier in the day when they take on a West Ham United side who might well have their attentions elsewhere now.
Those attentions will most likely be on the return leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday night and with the Hammers 2-1 down in that tie they might well rest a number of key men for this fixture. That leaves the question of whether Arsenal are good enough to take advantage. They are around the 4/5 mark to win the game and while I think they probably will do that, I can’t get previous away trips to Everton and Crystal Palace where they were beyond dreadful out of my mind. If they are good enough to win then fair enough but I don’t need the stress of wondering if that will be the case.
