Premier League 2021-22 – Sunday 3rd October Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The last day of Premier League action before yet another international break sees four more matches taking place on Sunday where we might get another indication of where the title might be heading this term.

Two of the four matches are live on TV for us to enjoy while the TV coverage is likely to have updates and highlights of the other two matches which take place on what should be a very good day of football up and down the country.

Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (2pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)

Crystal Palace v Leicester City (Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa

West Ham United v Brentford

Liverpool v Manchester City (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

Preview

The televised action comes from Selhurst Park where for the second time in six days Crystal Palace are the centre of attention. They will look to get over their agonising dropping of two points to Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday night when they welcome a Leicester City side to the capital who have not started the campaign well at all. The big match of the day though is the second televised offering where the last two champions battle it out at Anfield where Liverpool take on Manchester City with both sides knowing if they win the game they’ll spend the next two weeks on top of the table.

The other two matches both come from the capital and are important to the four sides on show. Tottenham Hotspur will look to bounce back from their shocking showing against Arsenal last week when they host an Aston Villa side who will probably still be buzzing from beating Manchester United last weekend while the other match is a London derby as West Ham United look to continue their good form against a Brentford side who have taken to this level very well and clearly aren’t fearing anybody at present.

Betting

I’ll go with the one bet over the course of Sunday and it comes in the opening televised match at Selhurst Park where I think there could be some goals in the offing. We saw on Monday evening that this is a much more expansive Crystal Palace side, one which looks to win the ball high up and play in the opposition half and if the beginning to the season that Leicester City have made is anything to go by then that is a tactic that could yield dividends.

Leicester can’t go to Crystal Palace and be happy with a point with the start they have made so they’ll need to go in search of a win which should see us treated to a very open game of football, one which should lead to plenty of goal chances with the scoring options that are on show. The Leicester defence is a patched up one and they don’t have Wilfried Ndidi providing a shield to it here. Palace aren’t the tightest either so I think all things being equal we’ll be treated to more than 2.5 goals in this one.
