Premier League 2021-22 – Thursday 10th March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League season continues to catch up with all the cancellations for the FA Cup and Covid problems earlier in the campaign on Thursday night when four rearranged matches take place on an interesting looking evening in the division.

As has been the case with a number of these rearranged offerings in recent times, the majority of them have no TV coverage in the UK but there is one which we can watch courtesy of Amazon Prime, who will hopefully keep us updated with the goings on elsewhere.

Thursday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)

Norwich City v Chelsea (19.30)

Southampton v Newcastle United (19.30)

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Watford (19.30)

Leeds United v Aston Villa (19.45 – Amazon Prime Video)

Preview

The televised match on Thursday evening is the later of the four to kick off and it sees events at the bottom of the table in the spotlight when Leeds United look to ease their relegation fears when they play host to Aston Villa, who had a good win at the weekend and will look to build on that here. The other match which carries importance at both ends of the table comes from Carrow Road when Norwich City host Chelsea with the home side looking to revive some live into some sort of escape from relegation while the visitors have plenty to think about right now both on and off the pitch.

The other two matches are likely to be impactful at the bottom of the table. Newcastle United can continue their climb away from the relegation zone when they make the ridiculously long midweek trip to Southampton while Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to get their season back on track when they host a Watford side who need to pick up three points just to latch themselves onto the teams looking to stay up.

Betting

There isn’t a huge amount that I like over the course of the evening but I do think there is a bit of value on Aston Villa in the live game. It will be interesting to see how the crowd are at Elland Road with this being the first home game for Leeds United since Marcelo Bielsa left the club. You wouldn’t think it would be toxic but they might be easier to quieten down than they might have been before, and Villa certainly have the tools in their side to do that.

Leeds have no lost six of their last seven matches and while a few of those defeats were against the top sides in the league, the loss to Leicester last time out wasn’t and while they dominated that game a lack of goals has become an issue for them. Villa have no such problems in front of goal with Philippe Coutinho adding a world class dimension to their attacking play. He could pick this Leeds defence apart given the opportunity and with Villa coming in with successive clean sheets they look to be carrying the confidence to get the job done here.
