Another set of fixtures begin in the Premier League on Tuesday when four of the six matches that were scheduled for the day will take place, with the other two postponed because of the Covid issues ploughing through the league.
Of those four matches much of the attention will be on the bottom end of the table, although there are a couple of sides with their eyes on moving up the ladder on show as well as those who are looking over their shoulder.
Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated – all on Prime Video)
Crystal Palace v Norwich City
Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur
Watford v West Ham United
Leicester City v Liverpool (8pm)

Three matches open up the action on Tuesday with Tottenham Hotspur the highest side in action. Antonio Conte’s men will be looking to close the gap between themselves and rivals Arsenal in the race for the top four but they will need to see off a Southampton side who had a good win at West Ham on Boxing Day and will be looking to build on that. The Hammers will be looking to respond to that defeat when they head across the capital to take on a Watford side who will be looking to arrest a four game losing streak.
Crystal Palace could do with a win after a period of just one of them in their last five matches but they will be without a whole host of players through Covid and suspension when they host bottom of the pile Norwich City. The Canaries were bashed up on Boxing Day and will be looking to respond positively. The final match of the day is the pick of the matches as the FA Cup winners Leicester City host a Liverpool side who have now fallen six points behind Manchester City at the top of the table and really can’t afford to drop any points at the King Power Stadium.
Betting
I’m conscious of the schedule here. You can’t not be with the amount of whinging all the foreign coaches are doing about it, so I’m not going to go too mad and I don’t really want to get too stuck into the match outcomes because I would imagine we are going to see a number of changes, particularly in the teams who played on Boxing Day. There is one bet that I like though which comes in the final match of the day.
I wouldn’t usually be a supporter of over 3.5 goals in a match but the fact that Liverpool didn’t play on Boxing Day means they can stay relatively strong for their trip to a Leicester City whose defence has been decimated and who failed to cope with Manchester City on Boxing Day. They shipped six on that occasion and are likely to be heavily tested again here against a Liverpool side who can be rampant when they get a head of steam up. Leicester did find the net three times against a City side who don’t concede many and with Jamie Vardy not starting that match he might well be included from the off here. That makes me think this is an occasion where being on an over 3.5 goals is a good idea.
