Premier League 2021-22 – Tuesday 8th February Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League returns from the winter break on Tuesday evening with three matches on a midweek card which is going to get better the longer it goes on. The attention on Tuesday is largely on the bottom of the table on what could be another defining evening of action.

All three matches, as all the games this week are, will be live on the TV for us to enjoy, although these three games all clash so you will need more than one device if you want to keep an eye on all the action.

Newcastle United vs Everton (19.45 – BT Sport 2)

The first of the matches that will impact events at the bottom of the table comes from St James’ Park where Newcastle United look to come out of the relegation zone when they take on an Everton side who are just four places above them in the table.

Both these sides have made changes since they were last in Premier League action. Everton have changed things on and off the pitch whereas Newcastle have brought in a series of players on it and both teams will be hoping that has the desired effect. I’m always a little reluctant to get too deeply involved straight after January while squads are settling down and things but that is especially the case here with Everton relatively new under Frank Lampard. My instinct tells me Everton matches will be quite open for the remainder of the season and that this one will contain a few goals but I’ve thought that about a few Newcastle matches recently and gone unrewarded so I’ll learn my lesson and keep my powder dry here.

West Ham United vs Watford (19.45 – BT Sport 3)

There is a London derby on Tuesday evening and it is a big one too as West Ham United host Watford with both sides desperate for points for very different needs with the Hammers looking to move back into the top four for a while and the Hornets looking to come out of the bottom three.

Both sides played on Saturday so they should be up and running again. West Ham were bang ordinary against Kidderminster Harriers but they got the job done and you would imagine they will be much more at it attitude wise here. Watford ended a bit of a slump with a goalless draw against Burnley at the weekend and will look to build from that. I suggested ahead of that game that Watford would be tougher to break down and defensively much stronger and that is how it was. There hasn’t been much time for Roy Hodgson to work on the attacking elements of the game so I expect them to be tough to beat but maybe not fluent in the attacking areas. West Ham are usually tough to break down too and they might find it hard to go mad against this Watford side so I’m expecting under 2.5 goals in this one.

Burnley vs Manchester United (20.00 – BT Sport 1)

The final match to kick off on Tuesday evening comes from Turf Moor and will also have implications on both ends of the table. Burnley look to move off the foot of the table when they host a Manchester United side who will be looking to protect their position in the top four.

Both these teams played at the weekend with indifferent effect. Manchester United were beaten on penalties by Middlesbrough whereas Burnley were held to a goalless draw which didn’t really do them much good by Watford. To be fair to Burnley, Sean Dyche still cuts a confident figure so he must like something he has seen from his side even if it isn’t immediately apparent in the results. Ralf Rangnick can’t like much of what he has seen from his Manchester United side and his concern is that they don’t look all that confident on the road. These two sides have too many questions hanging over them for me to get involved in this one.
