Premier League 2022-23 – Leicester City vs Nottingham Forest Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend concludes on the Monday Night Football where two East Midlands rivals battle it out when Leicester City welcome Nottingham Forest to the King Power Stadium for a clash between the bottom two teams in the league.

These two teams were terrible before the international break and will be hoping that the pause to their season has given them a chance to take stock and get their season back on track in what is likely to be a tense but competitive contest.

Where to watch

The match will be shown live and in full on the Monday Night Football programme which can be seen on the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels. The show begins at 7pm with kick off at the King Power at 8pm.

Leicester City

The start to the season has not been good for Leicester City. It is hard to see how it could have been much worse really. They have just one point from seven outings and need a serious turnaround and quickly if they are to avoid being in a nasty relegation battle. The positive for the Foxes is they won’t have needed to search too hard in the international break to work out where they have been going wrong. Whether they have been able to fix it is a different matter.

In just seven games Leicester have conceded a ridiculous 22 goals. There has only been one match they haven’t conceded two or more goals in and in their last two games their net has been hit on 11 occasions. That has to change else their Premier League run will come to an end. They have found the net 10 times in those matches though so if they can find a way to fix up their defence without taking away from their attacking play then they have the goals in them to move up the table.

Nottingham Forest

There was a real feel good factor around Nottingham Forest at the beginning of the season but that has slowly dissipated as they have struggled to come to terms with the division. The ridiculous number of signings they have made has been documented far and wide and they need those players to gel very quickly before this season completely gets away from them. Signing all those players only adds extra pressure because if they go down it could be extremely costly from a financial standpoint.

The positive for Forest is a lot of those players have had a couple of weeks to get to know each other and work on the training ground and it will be interesting to see what they have learned and how they implement it. Much like the team they face here, Forest don’t have a lack of goals in them but they are having big problems keeping the ball out of their own net. They have some exciting attacking players who could do some damage here.

Team News

Leicester City are confident that Wilfried Ndidi will be fit to play in this match even though he didn’t complete his international stint with Nigeria. Dennis Praet should be fit as well which leaves Ricardo Pereira as a long-term injury victim.

Nottingham Forest are hoping that Morgan Gibbs-White will be available for this match but his fitness is being monitored. Scott McKenna withdrew from Scotland duty last week and he is rated as a doubt by Steve Cooper.

Betting

I think Leicester City have the quality to get the job done here but I’m not interested in backing a team who concede goals like they do and have one point in seven matches at odds on. To be fair to Nottingham Forest, you would think they will improve when their raft of new signings bed in and they’ve had a couple of weeks to do that so it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise in the world if this is the best version of Forest we have seen this season.

The one thing I am pretty confident of in this match is that we are going to see goals in it. It isn’t anything like a six-pointer or anything like that but even so neither team will want to be cut adrift in the relegation zone so I expect both to look to win the game. Leicester are horrendous defensively and don’t look to have the personnel to change in that regard but Forest haven’t been much better. In the 14 matches these two have played this season they have shipped two or more goals in 11 of them. That makes me confident an over 2.75 goals punt will land here regardless of who wins the match.
