Premier League 2022-23 – Saturday 11th February Matches Tips and Betting Preview

A huge week in the Premier League season begins on Saturday afternoon when we have seven matches in the division taking place on a day where the title picture and the battle to avoid the drop is once again in the spotlight.

The schedule for the day is very much that of a typical Saturday with TV matches at the beginning and the end of it with the other five matches in the middle having updates in all the places you usually keep up to date with this league.

Early Kick Off

We begin with a London derby which comes from the London Stadium as West Ham United look to pull clear of danger when they entertain a Chelsea side who are under all sorts of pressure to begin to turn their form around after an enormous January spending spree. The Hammers begin the day just a point above the relegation zone and will be sitting ducks for those below them should they come away from this one empty handed. Chelsea start out in ninth but should they lose again they could find themselves in the bottom half of the table by the end of the weekend.

3pm Matches

It is rare these days that the Premier League leaders kick off at the traditional 3pm slot on a Saturday but that is the case here when Arsenal will be involved in the second London derby of the afternoon. Brentford are the visitors to the Emirates Stadium with the Bees potentially looking to move up to sixth in the table. That will all depend on how Brighton and Hove Albion get on at the same time. They face a trip to rivals Crystal Palace in the latest instalment of that particular derby clash.

Tottenham Hotspur will look to keep pace with the top four on Saturday afternoon as well when they travel to the King Power Stadium to take on a Leicester City side who might be rejuvenated after their win at Aston Villa last weekend. Two sides who look like securing another season of Premier League football after promotion back to the big time meet at Craven Cottage when Fulham host Nottingham Forest while there is a huge clash at St Mary’s where Southampton look to come off the bottom of the table for a few hours at least when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Late Game

The action concludes at the Vitality Stadium where Bournemouth look to move out of the bottom three in the table when they play host to Newcastle United. Bournemouth head into the match in terrible form and if something doesn’t change soon their return to the Premier League will end after one season. Newcastle have bigger fish to fry. Former Cherries boss Eddie Howe faces his old club looking to continue to guide Newcastle into the Champions League next season. A win would keep them in the top four for another week and keep the chasing pack at bay.

Betting

This feels like a tricky card not least because we are still assessing these new squads and how everyone fits into the plans and things but there is one bet which I can’t ignore and that comes at the King Power Stadium as Leicester City play host to Tottenham Hotspur. Clashes between these two are nearly always full of goals and that is a trend I expect to continue on Saturday afternoon, especially with Leicester showing signs of life last week.

In the last six seasons, Spurs have beaten Leicester 6-1, 5-4, 4-2 and 3-2 and earlier this season they won 6-2 in London so this is a fixture which has a history of goals. If they weren’t enough there have been a couple of 3-1 scores and a 3-0 and Leicester are defending a lot worse this season than in any of those. In total 10 of the last 12 have had at least three goals in them. Leicester look to have clicked in attack with their 4-2 win at Aston Villa last week but they don’t impress me at the back. I expect Kane, Son, Kulusevski et al to feed on the Leicester back line but Leicester have goals in them. Over 2.75 goals is almost even money for this one and that price just looks too big on a line that looks very low.
