A big few days of Premier League action begins on Saturday, where with a midweek round of games to come before another set of fixtures next weekend, all the teams on show will look to pick up a win and carry some form forward with them.
There are seven matches in total on Saturday afternoon with the first and the last one on the TV for us to enjoy and then those who aren’t going to any of the 3pm matches will know the ways to keep up with them by now.
Early Kick Off
The first match to start on Saturday does so at lunchtime as always and will see Manchester United looking to back up their win against Liverpool when they make the lengthy trip south to take on a Southampton side who will also be looking to build on their opening win of the campaign last weekend. In many ways this is a bigger game for United than the Liverpool one because it can tell us if they have turned the corner or whether that win over the Reds was purely a fluke. Southampton won’t care either way they’ll be out to do some damage of their own.
3pm Matches
We have five matches taking place in the traditional 3pm kick off slot on Saturday and it is a rare day where we see the top two from last season in action at this time. Manchester City are already looking ominous in the defence of their title and will look to pick up another three points when they entertain Crystal Palace at the Etihad. The Londoners have a fair record against City in recent seasons though so might not be a pushover. Liverpool will look to rebound from their loss at Old Trafford on Monday night when they chase a first win of the new season at home to Bournemouth.
Chelsea are another big name on show in the traditional slot on Saturday. They were rancid against Leeds last week and will be looking for a massive improvement when they host a Leicester City side who are already under pressure after a tough start to the campaign. Two teams who have made incredibly bright starts to their season are Brighton and Hove Albion and Leeds United. They meet at the Amex Stadium while the other match sees Brentford taking on a currently winless Everton side.

Late Game
The action finished with a London derby as the early pacesetters Arsenal get to show what they have to offer this season when they take on a Fulham team who have already picked up four points from their opening three matches and might make the trip to the Emirates Stadium believing they have nothing to lose. Arsenal are the only side with a 100% record still intact in the Premier League this term and will be wanting to keep that in place but Fulham showed against Liverpool on the opening day of the season that they might not be pushovers this term.
Betting
It is really hard to like Everton right now and you sense it is a big week for them as they get set to lose more talent and will need to replace it else this is going to be an even longer campaign than the last one was. Brentford don’t have any such problems. They have added to their squad nicely in a way that they always do and will go into the battle between the two as favourites to win the match. I think that is justified as well because they are one of the better home sides in the Premier League.
A lot was made about how bad Manchester United were in the only other home game Brentford have had this season but not nearly enough was made of how good the Bees were. Everton are the complete opposite. They have been dreadful on the road under Lampard and should have been beaten a lot heavier by Aston Villa in the only away game they have played this season. The Toffees have an injury crisis at the minute and unless Neal Maupay goes straight into the side are lacking for forward options. Brentford look in a much better place right now and that can translate onto the scoreboard here.
