Premier League 2023-24 – Saturday 2nd December Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

A big week of Premier League action begins on Saturday afternoon when half of the division are on show for the first of three times over the next week or so on a day where the leaders get the chance to extend their advantage at the top.

We might only have five matches on Saturday but we do still have a couple of live games to enjoy, although this time around they come at the back end of the day. Before that the other three matches will have updates in the usual places.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)

Arsenal v Wolverhampton Wanderers

Brentford v Luton Town

Burnley v Sheffield United

Nottingham Forest v Everton (5.30pm – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

Newcastle United v Manchester United (8pm – TNT Sports 1)

Preview

We have to wait a while for the TV games to come along but when they do we head to the City Ground to see whether Everton can win back three of the 10 points they have had deducted when they make the trip down to take on a Nottingham Forest side who could do with a win just to keep the bottom three far enough away from them for comfort. When they are done it is up to St James’ Park for a clash between two sides chasing a spot in the top six this season when Newcastle United look to get over their midweek heartache when they host a Manchester United side who are going much better than people would have you believe.

Earlier in the day the leaders Arsenal have the chance to go four points clear of the top when they play host to a Wolverhampton Wanderers side who are besieged by injuries and suspensions for the trip to the Emirates Stadium. Elsewhere, the bottom of the division will be in the spotlight. Two of the bottom three meet at Turf Moor when Burnley go up against Sheffield United while Luton Town will be looking to build on a first home win last week when they head to the capital to take on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Betting

I’ll go with one bet on this reduced card on Saturday. I was looking at taking the Luton game to be 0-0 at half time but Anthony Taylor is refereeing it and I don’t need another one of his bonkers decisions costing me so I’ll head elsewhere for a bet and the one in question is both teams to score in the match between two sides who were competing in the Championship last season in Burnley and Sheffield United.

Clearly neither side have made the start to the season that they would have wanted but this is very much a game both will look at as one that they can win and I think we’ll see both teams going for it in a bid to pick up what would be three much needed points. The key statistic here is that neither team have kept a clean sheet this season. Burnley have actually conceded two or more in 10 of their 13 games while the same can be said of Sheffield United. The Clarets have scored in eight of their 13 outings and the Blades in nine. One of their two meetings last season ended 5-2 and both defences match up very badly to the opposing attacks. I would be surprised if both teams don’t find the net here.
