The last Premier League weekend before the next international break begins on Saturday afternoon when six of the 10 games are played out on a day where the focus is very much on the bottom end of the table.
We see all three promoted sides in action on Saturday and a couple of other relegation candidates on a day where once again we have a TV game to start and end proceedings and plenty of updates on the other games.
Early Kick Off
We begin the day at Kenilworth Road where the lunchtime kick off sees the first big six club to visit Bedfordshire since Luton Town have returned to the Premier League happening. That club is Tottenham Hotspur who have the chance to finish the day on top of the table should they come away with the three points. Luton got promoted for opportunities and days like this and they are sure to give everything they have got so we should be in for some opening to the day.
3pm Matches
There are four matches taking place in the 3pm slot on Saturday where the most attention is likely to be on Old Trafford as Manchester United look to break out of their difficult run when they play host to a Brentford side who haven’t really come out of the traps particularly quickly this season. Chelsea are another team in that category but they had a good win at Fulham on Monday night and will look to add another victory to their column when they head to Turf Moor to take on a Burnley side who won their first match of the season in midweek.
That leaves two teams without a win to their name this term and they are both on the road in the other two matches. Bournemouth are surprisingly low down given how well they finished last season and they make the lengthy trip to Goodison Park to take on an Everton side who seemingly can’t win at home. Fulham are another team who are struggling to win matches but might not get a better chance to do so than a home game against a Sheffield United side who have found life back in the elite tough going so far.

Late Game
Selhurst Park will be the venue to close out the play on Saturday when we head to the capital for the late game. That sees an injury hit Crystal Palace side looking to build on that impressive win at Old Trafford last week when they play host to a Nottingham Forest side who have got a few results this season but who don’t really travel too well and who have flattered to deceive a little in a couple of matches you would have expected them to win comfortably this season.
Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the afternoon with the first of those coming in the form of over 10.5 corners in the early kick off at Kenilworth Road. Luton Town have always been reliable in the corners department and only two sides in the Premier League have had more corners than Tottenham Hotspur this season. They are the most likely top two at the end of the season in Manchester City and Liverpool. Spurs are going to go on the attack and the fact they are averaging a shade under seven corners per match bodes well. Luton are only two corners behind Tottenham though and average 6.5 of them themselves. With wing-backs and wide forwards Luton will naturally win a lot of corners and over 10.5 of them should sail in here given how Tottenham play.
Chelsea finally looked decent enough on Monday night and I think they can carry that on at Turf Moor when they take on Burnley. Burnley picked up their first win of the season but they took an absolute barrage from Luton in the second half of that game and if the Hatters had been more clinical they would have been out of sight. Even then it took a worldie to get the job done for the Clarets. Burnley will hope that Chelsea continue to spurn chances but the amount they are likely to create should see some find the back of the net just on the law of averages route if nothing else. Chelsea will be a real threat at set-pieces and have the transitional talents to expose this Burnley defence. Had Chelsea started the season with the results their xG suggest they should have they would be a country mile shorter than 4/5 here. I’m happy to be on that 4/5.
