The Premier League weekend continues on Sunday afternoon when two more matches play out in the Super Sunday slot as four teams are in action for the second time this season on what should be a day for two top six contenders to show their best stuff.
As always on a Sunday both of the matches are live on the TV so once the Women’s World Cup final has been completed there is no reason to leave the couch with another two exciting games to enjoy over the afternoon.
Aston Villa vs Everton (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The opening match of the afternoon sees two teams who were beaten in their first game of the season battling it out in the search for the first points of the campaign when Aston Villa welcome Everton to Villa Park.
The first game did not go to plan for Aston Villa last weekend when they were thumped 5-1 by Newcastle United, who didn’t exactly frank the form on Saturday night, albeit they were playing Manchester City. I don’t think we should write Villa off on that evidence though. So much went wrong for them in that match not least the loss of Tyrone Mings in the opening period. From the moment he went off they looked completely disorganised and you would expect that to have been rectified in the eight days since then. If Villa were humbled in their opening loss, Everton probably came out of their game with Fulham with the moral victory having dominated the match but despite creating a whole host of good chances they came away empty handed and won’t want to begin their season with successive losses to heighten the negative noise around them. Even allowing for that, Villa look a class above Everton and I’m going to back them to bounce back in front of their home fans. You could probably argue that the Villans are a touch short at around the 4/5 mark but for me they have the better XI and the much more potent attack which can lead them to victory.

West Ham United vs Chelsea (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
You can barely move in the Premier League for a London derby these days and the second one of three in the competition this weekend will close out the Sunday action when West Ham United play host to Chelsea.
Both teams opened up their season with an acceptable draw last week and now they will be looking to press on and pick up a first win of the campaign. Chelsea go into the match as favourites after a more encouraging display a week ago and having spent another quarter of a billion quid in the days since then but West Ham have done a bit of spending of their own over the last week or so which means we are going to see two sides who are still looking to gel playing against each other which is never a help when it comes to predicting for betting purposes. If the money spent is an indication on results then Chelsea should have no problem here but it is never that easy so I would rather watch and assess these two sides rather than bet for or against either.
