Premier League 2023-24 – Sunday 8th October Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon when the four remaining matches take place up and down the country on a day where a number of title contenders get to show their worth once again.

Of the four matches we have two of them live on TV in the UK and then given that the other two carry plenty of importance to the top end of the table we should get regular updates throughout the coverage of them.

Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (2pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)

Brighton & Hove Albion v Liverpool (Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

West Ham United v Newcastle United

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Aston Villa

Arsenal v Manchester City (4.30pm – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

Preview

We have two very juicy TV games to look forward to on Sunday with the first of them coming from the Amex Stadium where Brighton and Hove Albion will look to bounce back from that mauling at the hands of Aston Villa last weekend when they play host to Liverpool in what could quickly become a feisty game. When that is done the top two from last season meet for the first time since the Community Shield when Arsenal play host to the champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Away from the UK TV cameras three other sides who have had European football this week are on show. The London Stadium will see West Ham United looking to continue their good start to the season when they host a Newcastle United who will be buoyed by their emphatic win in the Champions League in midweek. Aston Villa were also winners in Europe on Thursday night and they make the short trip to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Betting

I’ll take a couple of bets over the course of the afternoon with the first one coming from Molineux where Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa might be the perfect dance partners for the goals to flow. We know Aston Villa have the quality to trouble the better teams in the league and the fact that Ollie Watkins has caught fire will certainly help with that but this high line Villa seem obsessed with playing is going to be music to the ears of Wolves who have plenty of pace in their side even if their finishing can leave a little to be desired at times. Villa are the second highest scorers in the league but they have also conceded five and three on the road. Wolves have shipped three or more in three of their seven games. Over 2.5 goals looks good to me here.

As it does in the later game between Arsenal and Manchester City who are surely going to go at each other here. It is the only way that Manchester City know how to play but Arsenal would have to be living in a cave to not appreciate that this is their best chance to go at the champions with Rodri suspended and no Kevin de Bruyne to kill them going the other way like he did in both meetings last term. Both these managers might not say it but they’ll be desperate to get the better of the other and there is so much goal power in this game. I expect a real high quality, high action encounter here and one where three goals will come fairly naturally.
