Premier League 2023-24 – Thursday 28th December Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The midweek action in the Premier League concludes on Thursday night when the final two fixtures take place and for the first time this week the attention will be solely on the top end of the table with two of the top five on show.

Once again both matches will be shown live and in full on the Amazon Prime Video service so if you have a couple of devices you won’t need to miss any of the action if you don’t want to. They kick off at different times so you can still catch some of the other game regardless.

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur (19.30)

The first of the two matches to kick off looks like it should be an entertaining contest between two of the most watchable teams in the Premier League as Brighton and Hove Albion welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Amex Stadium.

The good thing for punters going into this match is we don’t need to second guess how either of these teams will play. They don’t change for anyone but what we might need to guess is how they will line up because they are both plagued with injuries which might make things a little more difficult. Brighton have got a huge number of them and Kaoru Mitoma feels like a big one as his absence could allow Pedro Porro to get into offensive areas without too much to worry about behind him. Tottenham have a few injury concerns of their own but the important thing is their forward line hasn’t been affected too much and I think that could be crucial. Spurs also have their full-backs fit to overload the middle of the park so I do like their chances but the absence of both centre-backs and the defensive midfielder puts me off backing the visitors. Instead, I will take them to score more than 1.5 goals. Only twice this season on their travels have Tottenham not scored twice and in one of those they were down to 10 men in the first half. Brighton still haven’t kept a clean sheet in the Premier League this term so if that trend continues then Tottenham will have one goal and they have so much attacking talent that a second should have every chance of following against a defence which is averaging 1.72 goals against this term. Spurs over 1.5 goals will do me.

Arsenal vs West Ham United (20.15)

The final match of the midweek action comes from the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal look to move back to the top of the table when they host fellow London side West Ham United, who have a chance to finish the night in the top six should they avoid defeat.

The Gunners are yet to lose at home this season and have won seven of their nine matches at The Emirates so you would imagine they are good things in this match but it has been a while since they really looked flashy, instead looking to control games and ground out wins and keep themselves in front at the top of the league. There is nothing wrong with that but it doesn’t inspire me to want to bet on them. A few weeks ago I might have been happy to chance my arm with West Ham in some way here but their shocking displays at Fulham and Liverpool recently put me right off doing that so I’m happy to sit this one out.
