Another weekend of Premier League action begins on Saturday afternoon when seven of the 10 games in this match day take place with the table beginning to take shape and further doing so over the course of the day.
This is a usual Saturday for us in the UK in that we have a TV game to start the day and to end it. There are five matches in between and they will have updates in all the usual places for those who wish to follow.
Early Kick Off
We head to St James’ Park for the early kick off on Saturday afternoon as a stuttering Newcastle United side play host to the champions Manchester City who begin an extended period without the influential Rodri after his injury against Arsenal. Newcastle are generally decent at home but have to put a horrendous display at Fulham behind them here. Man City were the last team to leave Tyneside with three points earlier in the year and they will look to prove they can win tough matches without the Spaniard so this should be a great way to start the day.
3pm Matches
Title rivals Arsenal will look to reply to whatever City do earlier in the day when they head up the 3pm matches. They will look to build on the 2-2 draw at the Etihad when they welcome Leicester City to the Emirates Stadium. The other side in the top five who are in action in the traditional 3pm slot are Chelsea. They play host to Brighton who themselves are in pretty decent nick.
There are three other matches taking place in the 3pm slot with one of those matches being a London derby as two troubled sides meet when Brentford meet West Ham United with both teams needing a win. Speaking of teams who need a win, two more meet at Goodison Park when Everton welcome Crystal Palace to Merseyside. They other match comes from the City Ground when Nottingham Forest play host to Fulham without Morgan Gibbs White.

Late Game
We head to Molineux to close out the show on Saturday for the evening game as Wolverhampton Wanderers go in search of a first win on the season when they host Liverpool. Liverpool are still looking like being the closest challengers to Man City and Arsenal this season and have a chance to showcase their credentials here. Wolves begin the day bottom of table so their need for a win is clear so this should be a good way to round off the day.
Betting
This looks like a really tricky card to get stuck into on Saturday and as such I’m largely going to leave my powder dry because I do think the better bets come in the latter part of the weekend but there is one price which has interested me and that comes in the match between Everton and Crystal Palace where my focus is on the home side and the amount of goals that they might score. You can get 6/4 on them to score two or more and that feels likely.
Crystal Palace really haven’t started the season well and losing a key aerial threat at the back doesn’t look like it is going to help them, particularly against an Everton side who are very much tuned in on set plays. Palace have shipped twice to Brentford, West Ham and Leicester City this season, none of whom are anything special and how they kept a clean sheet against Man Utd last week only they will know. In contrast, Everton have notched twice in defeat to Bournemouth and Aston Villa and had 17 shots in the draw with Leicester City last weekend. Scoring goals isn’t a problem for Everton. Keeping them out at the other end is but we don’t need to worry about that here. I think there is juice in the over 1.5 Everton goals in this one.
