The final weekend of Premier League action before the next international break begins on Saturday when just over half of the division are on show on a day where the top two are both involved as well as many at the bottom of the table.
This is a slightly different Saturday schedule in that while we still have two TV games to enjoy over the course of it, they both come along in the evening rather than one of them being at lunchtime. The other matches have updates in the usual places.
3pm Matches
Four of the six matches on Saturday take place in the traditional 3pm slot with the attention largely at the foot of the table in the main. The bottom two meet in what feels like a huge clash for both managers if not both teams when Wolverhampton Wanderers go in search of a first win of the campaign when they host a Southampton side who are looking for successive victories. Crystal Palace are one spot above the bottom three heading into the weekend and they will be hoping to move a little clearer of danger when they welcome Fulham to Selhurst Park.
Two more teams who are in the bottom half of the table also meet at the London Stadium where West Ham United will hope to show something of some positive signs when they host an Everton side who lost to Southampton last week and are tracking dangerously close to the bottom three for their liking. The other early games sees Bournemouth looking to build on their win over the champions last week when they go to the capital to take on a Brentford side who will have to put that agonising Monday night defeat behind them.

Late Games
We have two late matches on Saturday evening with the top two involved across the course of them. Second placed Manchester City are the first team in action when they look to go top of the table for a few hours at least when they head to the Amex Stadium to take on Brighton and Hove Albion. The closer of the Saturday action takes us to Anfield where the sides who were third and fourth last season meet when the leaders Liverpool welcome Aston Villa to Merseyside for a game which might just give us an indication as to where both teams could finish this term.
Betting
There isn’t a huge amount that takes my fancy in the Premier League on Saturday but I would be surprised if there are not goals in the match between Brentford and Bournemouth. Brentford matches tend to be high scoring these days, especially at the Gtech where in recent times Brentford have beaten Ipswich 4-3 and Wolves 5-3. I wouldn’t expect to see that volume of goals here but I am surprised that the goal line is only 3 for this one because Bournemouth can tango too.
These two shared a number of goals last season with the two games ending 2-2 here and then Brentford won 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium. Brentford will be looking to bounce back from that loss on Monday night where they looked uncharacteristically poor while Bournemouth will be looking to build on their recent wins over Arsenal and Manchester City. You get the impression that this is a game that both teams will believe that they can win and that always makes for a more open game where the goals flow. I’m not sure I trust either of these teams defensively so at 1.88 I’m happy to take over 3 goals in this one.
