The second Premier League weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon when the three remaining matches take place on a day where we get to see a few of the supposed challengers for spots in the top four this season in action.
Two of the three matches are live on the TV for us in the UK to enjoy and then I would imagine the TV coverage will give us regular updates of the other match because it involves on of the high profile sides.
AFC Bournemouth vs Newcastle United (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The first of the two TV matches on Sunday comes from the Vitality Stadium where AFC Bournemouth go in search of a first win of the campaign when they play their opening home match of the new season when Newcastle United are the visitors to Dorset.
Newcastle got off to a winning start last week in a match where they weren’t as convincing as they would have wanted to be, but being down to 10 men inside the first half any win from that position is a welcome one. Bournemouth might have felt like they won their opening game because they equalised late for a point at Nottingham Forest and if they can win here it will put the concerns that they can’t do good things without Dominic Solanke to bed and they can crack on with looking to build on the excellent season they had last time around. Ordinarily you would probably have sided with Newcastle here but there are question marks over them defensively at the minute and over Bournemouth without Solanke so this is a relatively easy one to take a watching brief on.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Chelsea (14.00)
The match away from the TV cameras in the UK on Sunday sees two sides looking to bounce back from tame defeats last week meeting when Wolverhampton Wanderers play their first home game of the season against Chelsea.
Chelsea had a morale boosting win in the Europa Conference League in midweek but it is clear that they remain a work in progress when you consider the amount of transfer business that they are still doing. Wolves are probably in a similar boat but theirs is largely down to losing a couple of players later than they would have wanted. One of those will be in the opposition squad here in terms of Pedro Neto and there has to be question marks over how the Molineux side will cope without him. Chelsea are going to be under pressure in every match they play because of the crazy nature of the way they are conducting their business but if they are to have anything about them this season then this is a match they should be capable of winning but I’m not in a position yet where I am trusting them to win a match which might get awkward if they allow it to.
Liverpool vs Brentford (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The final match of the Premier League weekend is the opening game of the season at Anfield where Liverpool will look to build on their win over Ipswich in their first match last week when they host a Brentford side who were also winners a week ago.
Liverpool took a bit of time to get to grips with what the newly promoted side threw at them last week but when they did they soon looked pretty good and they will be looking to come on for the run so to speak here. Brentford were winners over Crystal Palace last week and while they were a little fortunate that a refereeing decision went down them at a key moment in the match, when you consider the situation with Ivan Toney they would have been delighted to get three points on the board and just settle things down a little bit. In a way they have nothing to lose here but the Bees will want to show they can be competitive in big games on the road, potentially without their talisman, and if they can do that then they can look forward to a stress free campaign. I thought Liverpool looked in decent order and while I would expect Brentford to be hard to break down to begin with, if and when they do it I think this can turn into a comfortable afternoon for the Reds. You can get 17/20 on Liverpool to win and under 4.5 goals which brings plenty of scores in our favour to get some value out of a home victory. Brentford have never scored a Premier League goal at Anfield and if that doesn’t change here then it is hard to see this one going over 4.5 goals but even if they do we have the 2-1 and 3-1 Liverpool wins on side. I like that punt.
