There is another midweek round of matches in the Premier League this week and they begin with four fixtures taking place on a Tuesday night where the race for Europe and the battle to avoid the drop take centre stage.
As ever with midweek matches these days, all of the games are live on TV for us in the UK to watch, although you’ll need plenty of devices to catch all of it because all four matches overlap over the course of the night.
Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows: (7.30pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)
Brighton and Hove Albion vs AFC Bournemouth (TNT Sports 3)
Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa (TNT Sports 2)
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Fulham (TNT Sports 4)
Chelsea vs Southampton (8.15pm – TNT Sports 1)

The highest team on show on Tuesday evening are AFC Bournemouth. They have the chance to move into the top four in the table ahead of the rest of the games this weekend if they can pick up a win away to Brighton and Hove Albion. Brighton themselves can close in on the European spots should they win that game. Another side who will be looking to move into the top four should Bournemouth slip up are Chelsea. They look to have the easiest task of the evening when they host a Southampton side who have looked out of their depth all season.
Aston Villa are another team who have their eyes set on reaching the loftier parts of the table and they will be looking to arrest a really poor season on their travels this term when they head to the capital to take on a Crystal Palace side who are once again showing signs of life in the second half of the campaign. The other match takes us to Molineux as Wolverhampton Wanderers look to put even more points between them and the bottom three when they entertain an inconsistent Fulham side.
Betting
I like a couple of bets across this mini card with the first coming at the Amex Stadium where I expect to see goals. We saw three of them in the reverse meeting at the Vitality Stadium but AFC Bournemouth are in an even better place right now while there are signs that Brighton and Hove Albion are beginning to find their groove after an up and down set of results. Both teams play expansively and look to win the ball up high so it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if this turns into a game full of goalscoring carnage. Prior to their loss to Wolves at the weekend, where an early red card influenced the play, both teams to score and over 2.5 goals had landed in five of the previous seven Bournemouth matches including their last four away from home and with Brighton back in groove going forward I expect it to land again here.
The other bet I like is for Crystal Palace to get the better of Aston Villa. Villa are in the middle of a brutal schedule. This will be their fifth match in 16 days and they have a cup game on Friday and a huge Champions League tie beginning next week and there are only so many times that a squad which has a number of injuries keep on going to the well. Palace haven’t delivered the form at home that they have away from Selhurst Park but they haven’t necessarily performed disastrously and the fact that they are winning on their travels will at least ensure that confidence remains high and with Ebere Eze they probably have the best player on the pitch and in Jean-Philippe Mateta there is a striker on form. Villa are not good away from home this term. They are only 4-2-6 away from Villa Park in the league and have won just two of 11 away in all competitions. Palace might not be flying at home but they have held Newcastle, Manchester City and Chelsea here and if there is a winner I think it will be the home side.
