Preview
The three supposed main contenders for the title are all in action on Wednesday evening starting with the leaders Liverpool who probably have the toughest match of the lot on paper when they make the trip to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United. Manchester City begin the night 11 points behind the Reds and they will know that they can’t afford another slip up when they host Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium. The other key match in the evening comes from the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal host Manchester United.
Chelsea are quietly hanging around towards the top of the table and they are in action on Wednesday night too. They go to the south coast to take on Southampton who really need to build on their point at Brighton last week. Aston Villa are in a poor run of form and they will hope to turn that around when they entertain Brentford on Wednesday evening while the other match is a big one at the foot of the table when Everton host Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Betting
I like two bets over the course of the night where the first comes at the Etihad Stadium for what is probably an obvious pick of both teams to score. You couldn’t trust this Manchester City defence to keep a clean sheet against anyone right now let alone a Nottingham Forest team who have pace to burn on the counter which is exactly what this City side are most susceptible to. You would have to think that although Nottingham Forest are tight and compact defensively that in a match they surely have to win that City will find a way to breach that back line so the 5/6 on both teams to score here looks a solid play.
The other bet that I like is for both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in the match between Aston Villa and Brentford. Villa are going to be without their star stopper Emiliano Martinez because of the wrist injury that he picked up on Sunday afternoon and that should help with the Brentford scoring here, not that they need too much help in that department. They do need help defensively though and they are going to need plenty of that here because Villa have a number of attacking options at their disposal. Both meetings between these two would have seen this bet land last season and eight of the 13 Villa matches this term would have landed this punt while 10 of the Brentford ones have as well. This looks another ideal time to get involved in this market.
