The Premier League weekend finishes with the Monday Night Football this week with all eyes likely to be on more than just the match as the champions Leicester host Liverpool in a huge game for both sides.
Leicester fell into the bottom three on Saturday and desperately need some points to escape trouble while Liverpool have fallen outside the top four and need to win to get back in there.
Leicester
Nine months after winning the league title and a goal away from the quarter final of the Champions League amazingly Leicester begin a new era in this match after the ridiculous sacking of Claudio Ranieri. All eyes will be on their players to see what sort of performance they put in here after not showing up for much of their Premier League title defence.
If Leicester are to get out of the mess they have created they are going to need to find some goals. They have yet to score a single Premier League goal in 2017 and that simply has to change and it has to change soon. I would expect Leicester to set up to have a go here and try and restore some pride after the events of Thursday.
Liverpool
Liverpool ended a run of five matches without a win in their last game against Tottenham and off the back of more than a two week break they should be completely fresh heading into this match. They need to finish the season strong if they are to make it into the Champions League next season and they have the chance to lay a marker down for that here.
Scoring goals hasn’t been Liverpool’s problem for much of the season although there was a spell when Sadio Mane was in Africa when they struggled to score. The bigger issue has been keeping the things out of their own net and they will need to do something about that if they are going to finish in the top four.
Team News
Leicester caretaker boss Craig Shakespeare isn’t set to make too many changes. Leonardo Ulloa could be considered despite saying he would never play for the club again.
Liverpool could be without Dejan Lovren who has an injury while Daniel Sturridge is hit and miss whether he will be fit. The likelihood is that he will miss out.
Betting
I don’t fancy betting on the match outcome here. There is too much guesswork involved on both sides and the pressure is mounting too much for normality playing out to be a guarantee but I do like the idea of goals in the match.
Leicester will either give this everything, really show up and score some goals and be dangerous throughout or they will sulk, feel sorry for themselves and stink the place out like they have done for much of the season so far and fall to a tame defeat.
Neither of these sides can defend so I’m expecting the attackers to catch the eye in the match and I expect that to equate to seeing at least three goals if not more.
