Premier League – Sunday 16th October Matches Betting Preview

There are two more matches in the Premier League on Sunday although whether they qualify for ‘Super Sunday’ billing might be open to debate! With Liverpool and Man Utd being left for Monday night it is the turn of four of the lesser sides in the league to take centre stage on Sunday.

Middlesbrough vs Watford

This is a match both sides will think they can win which might make it a more competitive and intriguing fixture than it looks but not necessarily the easiest one to bet on.

Middlesbrough haven’t really got going this season and I can’t remember a time when I have watched them and they have convinced me while Watford’s inconsistency has to be a concern. If the one which played and beat Man Utd so easily shows up here then I’d want to be on them but if the one which tamely lost to Burnley arrives I want to be nowhere near. The obvious thing is to leave this one alone.

Southampton vs Burnley

Southampton will be aiming for a win in this match which would take them up to eighth place in the league table but a Burnley will would not only pull them away from danger a little more but it would also move them onto the fringes of the top half.

Southampton have a couple of injuries in defensive areas going into the match and haven’t completely convinced me this season whereas Burnley are missing Andre Gray and could be without their keeper Tom Heaton which wouldn’t be ideal.

I’ve mentioned in previous previews how Burnley are nice and tight and compact at home but away from home they aren’t as tight. They have already lost 3-0 at Chelsea and at Leicester and that isn’t going to inspire much confidence. That said the handicap on Southampton is now up to 1.5 which looks a little on the high side to me so I’m happy to sit these two matches out.
