As ever with the Ram Slam T20 schedule there is one match to be played in the tournament on Wednesday and what a match it promises to be as the top two in the table do battle in Durban.
That means the Dolphins host the Titans in this heavyweight battle. This will be the second time the two sides have met this season after the Dolphins won when they met on the opening day. Whoever wins this match will go into the weekend on top of the table.
The Dolphins won their first four matches in this campaign but were undone by the Cape Cobras last time out so they will be looking to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible.
They will have to cope without Kevin Pietersen from here on in though as the England star has finished his stint in the tournament. Dwayne Bravo has taken on the overseas duties and he’ll be a key man with Kyle Abbott now in India and Prenelan Subrayen having been banned from bowling. Vaughn van Jaarsveld could be a handy replacement for KP.
The Titans lost to the Dolphins in the opening match but they have won all four of their matches since then and head to Durban as the form team. That is no surprise to me as I tipped them to go well before the tournament.
What is worrying for the rest of the competition is that the Titans still have some big players to come into their side but for now perhaps the most important return from injury for them has been David Wiese. He offers a great bowling option and handy runs down the order.
These are the standout two sides in the competition so far and although the Dolphins won their first meeting I fancy the Titans to get revenge for that defeat by winning this one.
I really like the balance of this Titans side. They have good batting options and depth and some real clutch bowlers as well. The Dolphins have one of the most powerful batting line ups in the competition but I worry for them a bit with the ball and that could well end up being the difference between the two so I’ll take the Titans.
