Another Friday night brings another set of Ram Slam T20 fixtures with the top three in the table all in action on what promises to be a defining night in the tournament.
The televised game sees the champions Cape Cobras hosting the leaders Titans in Cape Town while the Warriors play host to the Dolphins in East London so we’ve got two good matches in play on Friday.
The Titans’ win over the Dolphins on Wednesday night with the bonus point on top surged them five points clear at the top and if the Cobras are to have any chance of catching them then they simply have to win this match. A defeat will see them fall 9pts off the pace with matches slowly beginning to run out.
It won’t be easy for the champions though. They have already taken a significant beating at the hands of the Titans this season and if anything the Titans keep getting better with each match. Unless the likes of Richard Levi or even Rory Kleinveldt do something special with the bat I do worry for the home side here.
Titans have shown in their last two matches that they can get it done with the bat or with the ball. We saw on Wednesday night that they don’t need to put up big totals to win matches and that will ease the pressure on their batsmen and allow them to flourish more and more. I see a Titans win here.
In the other game the Dolphins have already beaten the Warriors this season but after seeing the Fins on Wednesday night I’m in no rush to back them at strong odds on. That said the Warriors have shown little in the tournament so far themselves so I can’t really back them either so I’m just going to leave this one alone and stick with a punt in the TV game.
