Rothesay International Tennis 2024 – Quarter Finals Tips and Betting Preview

It is the quarter final day at the Rothesay International on Thursday with all four matches lined up for the two main courts at Devonshire Park in Eastbourne on what should be another competitive day of tennis at the ATP 250 event.

It felt like we were always going to get surprises this week and we haven’t been disappointed in that regard. Two rounds into the tournament and we are left with just one seeded player so there is a chance for a real big week for plenty here.

Centre Court

Two of the men’s quarter finals will be played out on the Centre Court and they are either side of the two matches from the women’s draw. The men start and close the show on this court with the British wildcard Billy Harris first up to entertain the home crowds. He will be looking to get the better of Flavio Cobolli to make it into the semi-final. The later men’s match sees the number one seed Taylor Fritz looking to reach the last four in Eastbourne once again when he takes on the qualifier Juncheng Shang.

Court 1

The other two matches take place over on Court 1 and in a bid to avoid a clash between them they will be the middle two games on this court with the women starting and finishing the schedule. The first men’s match might well be the pick of them for the day with the qualifier Max Purcell going up against Miomir Kecmanovic who is showing signs of his better form here. The last of the matches on Court 1 sees two men meeting for the second time this week as Aleksandar Vukic faces the man who took him out in qualifying before he got a reprieve as a lucky loser in Yoshihito Nishioka.

Betting

I have to say that by virtue of the fact that Yoshihito Nishioka beat Aleksandar Vukic here on Sunday in the final qualifying round, I’m a little surprised that the Japanese player is the underdog to get the better of the Australian again here. I haven’t seen too much in the two rounds since then that suggests that the form is going to turn around, although to be fair to Vukic he did have a decent win over the third seed Alexander Bublik on Wednesday.

Nishioka has looked decent enough this week and I would actually rate his second round win over Marcos Giron as the better of the two victories these two had in that round given the calibre of players that the American has beaten on the grass this season. If there is a concern over Nishioka it is that these four wins he has picked up this week are added to just a solitary win on the grass dating back to 2016. He was 1-8 on the green stuff coming into the week but there have been no signs of him struggling and the result between the two four days ago has to come into this. I’ll play the Japanese player here.
