The Royal London One Day Cup continues on Friday when another three matches take place in the competition as the group stage carries on and heads towards the end of the opening quarter just three days after beginning.
As with the opening day of the competition, The Hundred is taking up the TV attention so we have to go to the county streams in order to be able to watch these matches. They are all of a decent enough quality though.
Group A
There is just the one match in Group A on Friday and it comes from Hove where two teams who are yet to get off the mark in the competition meet when Sussex play host to Gloucestershire. Given that both are at the bottom of their respective divisions in the Championship and both missed out on finals day in the Vitality Blast this competition is the only thing left to bring any joy out of the campaign. Whoever loses here will be up against it to come out of this group.

Group B
We have two matches in Group B to enjoy on Friday with the first one seeing the Vitality Blast champions Hampshire on show. They are the last team to get their campaign underway and they do so when they welcome Worcestershire to the Ageas Bowl. The other match is the first day-night game of the competition when Essex, who saw their opening match washed out against Lancashire, welcome a much improved Derbyshire to Chelmsford.
Betting
Derbyshire were well beaten in their opening match of the competition but they lost to the champions Glamorgan who I highlighted in my tournament preview that I expect to go well. They have won another match since then so I don’t think Derbyshire should be counted out just yet. This is a side in with a shout of promotion in the Championship and who made the knockout stages of the Vitality Blast. It would be better if Shan Masood was back for this match but there is still enough in the Derbyshire ranks to cause problems.
Essex aren’t at full strength anyway. They are probably missing their four best players for this competition with Michael Pepper, Dan Lawrence, Sam Cook and Simon Harmer all away either at The Hundred or international duty. Alastair Cook isn’t playing the competition this season either so this match looks much more even than the odds suggest. Derbyshire are without three key men in Wayne Madsen, Leus du Plooy and George Scrimshaw but their top six was still experienced enough to get the job done and with Essex yet to play a game in the campaign it might be that Derbyshire get them at a decent time. I’ll pay to see how they go here.
