Big Matches

The televised action is all about troubled Derby County and their quest to pull away from trouble and give themselves a fighting chance of survival on the pitch. The make the short trip to rivals Nottingham Forest for what is sure to be a tasty little contest. The top two are also in action on Saturday afternoon. Fulham look to maintain their five point lead at the top when they head to Stoke City while AFC Bournemouth have the easier looking task of a home match against struggling Hull City as they bid to keep pace with the Cottagers.

Best of the Rest

Just two of the four sides in the playoffs are in action on Saturday afternoon. They are QPR and West Brom with the former making the trip to take on Coventry City while the latter get a home date against Peterborough United. That means Huddersfield Town have the chance to move into the top six if they can pick up a win when they make the trip to Reading. At the other end of the table bottom of the pile Barnsley need to start picking up positive results. They head to a Birmingham City side who are slowly heading towards a relegation battle.

Betting

This is the Championship and you can’t be certain about anything in this division but having seen Reading on Wednesday night I have to back Huddersfield Town to win their battle at the ‘Select Car Leasing Stadium’. I’ve seen some poor sides in the Championship but I don’t think I’ve seen one as bad as Reading were against Luton on Wednesday evening. The whole package wasn’t good. The team were lacklustre and short of ideas on the pitch and the atmosphere was flat and dead in the stands and that isn’t a good combination.

I must admit I’m more comfortable backing Huddersfield at home rather than away but if they have anything about them this season then they should be able to take care of Reading. To be fair to the Terriers they are undefeated in four matches away from home so it isn’t like they are unreliable on their travels. They have the incentive of finishing the day in the top six and on the draw no bet Asian line I think they rate as a decent bet.
