The last day of Sky Bet Championship action for 2021 takes place on Thursday when we have four matches still going ahead throughout the evening after one of the scheduled games was cancelled due to Covid-19.
One of the four matches will be live on the main Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football channel and two of the other three will be hidden behind the red button for people to watch should they want to so we are well covered in terms of coverage.

Preview
This is an evening which is going to have implications at the top and the bottom of the table. The main televised game sees two sides who are chasing a playoff spot in action. Nottingham Forest are currently on the outside looking in while Huddersfield Town are the occupants of the final spot in the top six, but they know that Forest will overtake them should they come out on top in this encounter. Much higher than that, AFC Bournemouth will look to open up a four point lead at the top of the table when they host a Cardiff City who are still looking over their shoulders just three points above the drop zone.
The other two matches sees two more teams who could end the night in the top six should Huddersfield Town slip up. QPR have lost their last two matches but a win away to Bristol City will see them back in the top six if the Terriers don’t win. The other side who could end the year in a playoff spot are Stoke City. They play host to rock bottom Derby County who will be looking to build on their win over West Bromwich Albion on Monday to give themselves a glimmer of hope of staying up in 2022.
Betting
Nottingham Forest saw a nine match unbeaten run come to an end on Boxing Day but a match away to Middlesbrough was never going to be easy at present with the Riverside outfit on a good run. I think the Tricky Trees can get back to winning ways in front of their own fans here against a Huddersfield Town side who I believe are overachieving sitting sixth in the table. They won on Boxing Day but were 2-1 down to Blackpool when their opponents lost a man, although to their credit they did take advantage of that to win 3-2.
Huddersfield don’t tend to perform as well on their travels as they do at home and like I say one or two of their recent results have flattered them a little. Forest are a much better side under Steve Cooper and play a progressive style of football, perhaps just as importantly at this time of year they have more options in their squad to cope with the rigours of the schedule than their opponents in this match. I like Forest to win this.
