Preview

The main televised match comes from Deepdale where Huddersfield Town will look to preserve their status within the top six when they travel to a Preston North End side who suddenly have play-off ambitions of their own after a decent run of form. The other match is all about the race to the Premier League as Blackburn Rovers look to fend off a surging chasing pack when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Ewood Park. Forest are flying themselves and a win could see them end the night in the top six positions.

One of those sides chasing Blackburn Rovers down are AFC Bournemouth and they welcome Birmingham City in a match they need to win not just for league position but also to rid the memory of their embarrassing cup exit on Sunday night. The big match in terms of club size comes from Bramall Lane where Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion meet with both looking to strengthen their top six credentials. At the other end of the table there is a big lower part of the division clash when Cardiff City host Peterborough United. The other two matches sees Bristol City hosting a dismal Reading outfit while two more promotion chasers meet in London when QPR take on Middlesbrough.

Betting

I’ll go with the one bet over the course of these matches which comes in the form of Sheffield United to beat West Bromwich Albion. I would imagine in the coming weeks there is a fair chance that West Brom will improve under new manager Steve Bruce, to be fair they could scarcely get any worse, but whether that improvement is enough to beat the Blades on home soil I’m not so sure. This is still a West Brom side who have just one win in their last eight matches and that was only against a poor Peterborough United side.

Amazingly this is just the fourth time since October that Sheffield United will have played in front of their own fans but they are undefeated in the previous three and are clearly in decent touch under Paul Heckingbottom. Overall they have won seven of their last nine matches which includes a win over the leaders Fulham. West Brom might need more than a few days to rid themselves of the Valerien Ismael style and while that is taking place the Blades can pick up another three points.
