The Sky Bet Championship weekend continues on Sunday afternoon when another three matches take place in the division, which is already tightly packed as is often the case in this crazy competition.
One of the three matches will be live on the TV for us to enjoy and then there are the many usual ways to stay updated on the other two games which actually kick off after the TV coverage has concluded which isn’t ideal.
Reading vs Stoke City (12.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Football)
The televised game comes from the Madejski Stadium as two former Premier League teams meet each with the aim of picking up three points which will make a return to the big time more realistic when Reading host Stoke City.
Reading were favourites to be relegated this season but they have won four of their first seven matches and could end the weekend in the top two if they win here and the rest of the results go their way. Actually it is Stoke who have looked more like relegation candidates and they have made the move which looked a long time in coming in dismissing Michael O’Neill and replacing him with Alex Neil who are least has had some success in this division. How long it takes him to turn a sunken Stoke around remains to be seen but the fact he is new to the job makes Stoke harder to assess so I’m happy to leave this one alone.

Huddersfield Town vs Blackpool (15.00)
One of the two matches which are not in front of the TV cameras on Sunday afternoon comes from the John Smith’s Stadium where Huddersfield Town take on Blackpool as two sides in the bottom half of the table meet.
Regular readers will know I’m not keen on Huddersfield this season. I wasn’t before it began and I haven’t seen anything that should change my mind. Blackpool are usually a good footballing side and I don’t see that changing under Michael Appleton but I do sense that they will be better after the World Cup break once he has been able to re-instill his philosophy on the side. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Blackpool get a result from this one but they are still a work in progress as far as I’m concerned in terms of me getting a feel for them so I’ll continue to do that and leave this one alone as well.
Hull City vs Sheffield United (15.00)
The other match sees two Yorkshire outfits who have made a decent start to the season meeting at the MKM Stadium where Hull City welcome Sheffield United in what is probably the pick of the three fixtures over the course of the day.
Sheffield United begin the afternoon in second place in the table and a win here will send them back to the top so they are not short of an incentive whereas Hull City have just dropped down the table a bit with two defeats in their last three. A win here can move them back into the top four so both teams have a fair amount to play for in this one and I see an entertaining match as a result. I mentioned in midweek about Hull City matches being high scoring and they duly delivered another one with four goals in it. Only Bristol City have scored more goals in the Championship than Sheffield United this term so I think goals is the better bet here over an away win with the Blades still to win on their travels this season. You can get 10/11 on over 2.5 goals here and that looks a solid punt to me.
