Preview

The standout match across the course of the evening is the one which takes place at The New Den where Millwall take on the leaders Burnley just a few days after knocking off second placed Sheffield United. The Lions could move up to fourth with a win while Burnley will be looking to move 18 points clear of third place and continuing their march towards automatic promotion. Sunderland are the other side in the top six on show on Tuesday evening and they face a trip to Rotherham United for whom the trap door is beginning to get a little too close for comfort.

Blackpool will be looking to come out of the bottom three on Tuesday evening should Rotherham United lose that match. In order for that to happen they will need to win at local rivals Blackburn Rovers. The other two matches sees Norwich looking to keep their promotion push going when they host Birmingham City which is the match on the red button. The other match comes from south Wales as Swansea City take on Stoke City.

Betting

Sunderland did me a turn on the road last week and I’ll back them to do likewise on Tuesday night when they make the trip to Rotherham United who are just showing signs that the season might be catching up with them. The Millers have won just one of their last 12 matches since just prior to the World Cup and that was against a Blackburn side who never showed up on the night. Goals are suddenly a problem for Rotherham with just one in their last four and I fear for them a little here.

Sunderland dropped two points late on against Bristol City on Saturday but they had won three of four prior to that with the draw in that time coming at Millwall which is certainly no shameful result. Sunderland have lost just one of their last 10 matches and have moved up to the fringes of the play-offs, and will be looking to make it back into the top six here. They are beginning to score for fun and aren’t conceding too many and I expect them to have too much for Rotherham here, particularly with this being the fourth match in 10 days for both teams, something the Black Cats are better equipped to deal with than Rotherham.

Tips

Back Sunderland (-0.25AH) to beat Rotherham United for a 3/10 stake at 1.84 with William Hill
