There are two Sky Bet Championship matches taking place on Tuesday evening as four teams catch up with games from earlier in the season and go in search of what could be a valuable three points heading into the final quarter of the season.
One of the two matches are live on the main TV channel on Tuesday evening while those who want to watch the other one will be able to do so via the red button for those who have access to that particular service. We’ll begin the preview with the main TV game.
Luton Town vs Millwall (20.00 – Sky Sports Main Event & Sky Football)
Two sides in the top six meet at Kenilworth Road when sixth placed Luton Town take on a team a place above them in the Championship table in Millwall in a clash which could have a big impact in the race for the play-offs.
Luton are notoriously tough to face at home although they have only won five of their 16 home games this season. Performances have been better under Rob Edwards even if the results haven’t always followed. The last three or four Luton displays have been very encouraging and they will be hoping for similar here. In the early part of the campaign Millwall were struggling on their travels but they have won three of their last four away matches and in recent weeks have beaten Sheffield United at home and held Burnley there too so they are in a good place which hopefully will make for a positive match here. I’m not going to get too involved in the game, largely because I think the draw is too heavily in play and I don’t like backing them, but one price which stands out is the 5/2 on Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu to have a shot on target.
He plays a lot further forward in the Rob Edwards midfield formation and scored two home matches ago against Stoke City. He isn’t necessarily in the side to score goals, his work rate and ability to shut down attacks is as important but with Luton being without Carlton Morris for this match they might need their midfielders to either get into the box or contribute around it. Mpanzu will get into forward areas and so I’ll take a chance that he finds the target over the course of the 90 minutes.

Preston North End vs Coventry City (19.45 – Sky Red Button)
The match that is behind the red button on Tuesday evening sees two teams just about in the top half of the table looking for three points to kick start a top six push when Preston North End host Coventry City at Deepdale.
I was at Deepdale a couple of weeks ago when the home fans were extremely restless and not really engaged with their team and although they beat Wigan at the weekend I wonder if the atmosphere at the venue will be sterile once again. It is easy to see why the Preston fans are like that. Only Wigan have picked up fewer points on their own patch this season and their 12 home goals in 17 games is little more than pathetic. They host a Coventry side who have come alive again after a sticky patch. It is no surprise that three wins and a draw in their last four has coincided with the return to scoring form of Viktor Gyokeres. Coventry are solid enough at the back and have lively players up top and a couple of players in midfield who create chances. This is a match where one goal might be enough and having seen both teams in person over the last couple of weeks I fancy Coventry to edge this is there is a winner.
