Preview

The two televised matches are the later two games to kici off once again. One of them sees Reading looking to move up to third in the table and possibly higher depending on results elsewhere when they entertain a Sunderland side who are looking to find their groove again after the departure of Alex Neil. The other match is a midlands battle as West Bromwich Albion look to find just a second win of the season when they take on a Birmingham City side who despite having a second win of the campaign start the night in the bottom three.

Norwich City are the highest team on show on Wednesday evening. They welcome Bristol City to Carrow Road with the Canaries looking for a win which will keep them within a point of Sheffield United at the top. At the other end of the table bottom of the pile Coventry City head to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town while Rotherham United meet Blackpool. The other match sees two London sides going at it when Millwall host Queens Park Rangers.

Betting

It has been a bit of a tumultuous last month for Sunderland with their manager leaving to go to Stoke and now it was revealed that leading marksman Ross Stewart would be out for at least a month and the end result of that was them looking a little toothless at Middlesbrough last week. That result already doesn’t look that great after what Cardiff did there on Tuesday evening and although the Black Cats do have a win under Tony Mowbray it was a home one against Rotherham United which isn’t the biggest piece of form known to man. The injury to Stewart feels significant though.

Reading have a perfect home record this season and it isn’t like they have had an easy schedule either. They have beaten Blackburn Rovers who were leaders at the time, Middlesbrough and Stoke who while struggling have Premier League quality in their ranks. They have only conceded two goals in those matches as well and look to have a nice groove going in front of their own fans. While Reading are a different proposition on the road this term, at the Madejski they have a fine record and with Sunderland having to find a way to win without their talisman I think Reading are a good bet on the Asian lines.
