The Sky Bet Championship weekend continues with two teams who started the weekend in the bottom three meeting on Sunday afternoon when rock bottom Sheffield Wednesday host fellow Yorkshire outfit Rotherham United at Hillsborough.
Sheffield Wednesday look to be in all sorts of trouble while Rotherham have life after a midweek win and it will be interesting to see how this one plays out. Unfortunately there is no TV coverage of the game in the UK so you’ll need the usual places for updates.
Sheffield Wednesday
This is rapidly becoming a masterclass in how to do everything wrong after promotion for Sheffield Wednesday. The warning signs were there after they sacked Darren Moore shortly after he took them back to the Championship and the appointment of Xisco Munoz never looked like it was going to work and he has predictably come and gone already. We are 13 games into the season and Sheffield Wednesday are still looking for their first win.
It isn’t really like Wednesday have been competitive either. They have only scored one goal in their last nine and have only notched five in their 13 games and have picked up three points from a possible 39. There is no immediate sign that the manager change has had any impact and now they have been placed under a transfer embargo so in five months it has really unravelled fast. If they lose here you sense it could fall apart completely.
Rotherham United
Rotherham United have struggled out of the blocks this season but in some ways that was to be expected having lost a couple of big players in the close season. They were always going to be up against it in what looks like a much stronger division than it was last season and it is probably no surprise that they are in the bottom three heading into this match. They will move to within a couple of points of safety and have a game in hand if they come out on top here though.
One issue for Rotherham is that they have played six matches on their travels and only have a solitary point to show for their efforts. That did come in their last road trip at Southampton which isn’t a bad result by any means and then they followed that up with a midweek win against Coventry City so there are signs that the Millers have settled down a bit and might be finding their feet in the division. A win here really sparks their campaign into life.

Team News
Sheffield Wednesday will have Callum Paterson available for this match after he missed their latest game with a knock. There is still no Momo Diaby and Juan Delgado though as both are still recovering from injury.
Rotherham have a doubt over Lee Peltier who will undergo a late check to see if he is available. The Millers are definitely without Jamie Lindsay though as he remains on the sideline with injury. Sam Nombe and Sam Clucas are among those hoping for a start.
Betting
I can’t be having Sheffield Wednesday at odds on here. Sometimes you can get teams who are better on paper who are just struggling but I’m not even convinced they are that when matched up to this Rotherham United side and the fact you can get odds against on them to avoid defeat against a team who have yet to win in 13 matches is almost a no brainer really. Even were Sheffield Wednesday better on the field they are an absolute mess off it and these things seep into the on field stuff.
The concern is that Rotherham haven’t been great on their travels but they have held Southampton recently and earlier in the season they ran Sunderland close. The positive for Rotherham away from home is that they have scored in three of their six matches and if they score here you would have to think they will come away with something from the game even if it isn’t a win. I can’t go near Sheffield Wednesday at the minute so Rotherham on the +0.5 Asian line which gives us a full cash if they avoid defeat will do me nicely.
