Preview
The race for promotion forms the backdrop to the TV coverage on Tuesday evening as second placed Ipswich Town look to go top of the pile when they make the trip to take on a Watford side who are slowly creeping towards the top six in the table and could actually end the night in those positions with a win. Leeds United will be hoping that the Tractor Boys slip up and if they do they will have the chance to take advantage when they make the trip to the Stadium of Light to take on a Sunderland side who currently occupy the final spot in the play-offs at present.
Three other sides who harbour hopes of competing in the play-offs at the end of the season are also on show on Tuesday evening with West Bromwich Albion looking to rebound from successive defeats when they head to Rotherham United who will have new manager Leam Richardson overseeing things for the first time. Preston North End will be looking to arrest a run of four without a win when they make the trip to Huddersfield Town while Blackburn Rovers will also look to end two games without victory when they host Bristol City. The other match sees two sides without managers going at it when Stoke City host Swansea City at the Bet365 Stadium.
Betting
Only two matches at the Stadium of Light this season have had less than three goals in them and with Leeds United the visitors to Sunderland on Tuesday evening I don’t see a third such occasion happening. Sunderland responded to what felt like a surprise sacking of Tony Mowbray with a good win over West Brom at the weekend and the one thing we know about this young side is that they will get on the front foot and go at Leeds.
That might be music to the ears of Daniel Farke, whose side has plenty of pace in the wider attacking areas and no shortage of quality through the middle. You can still get at this Leeds side though. They only have two clean sheets in their last 10 matches and you would imagine that Sunderland will feed on that one. This feels like a game where both teams will get to play in the style they would want to and with the quality in the attacking units and the vulnerabilities in defence I like over 2.75 goals here.
