Preview
The TV cameras are out and about on Wednesday evening with the main game being the one from the New York Stadium where Rotherham United will look to pick up a second win of the season when they host a Bristol City side who can’t seem to find any sort of consistency. The other TV game comes from the Stadium of Light where Sunderland will look to continue to pick up speed when they host a Watford who have had a major turnaround and actually given a manager a new contract despite them operating in their lowest league position for some time.
The big match of the night comes from the King Power Stadium where second placed Leicester City host the team in third in Preston North End. Norwich City are the next highest placed team on show and they face a lengthy trip to Wales to take on Swansea City. Leeds United saw their momentum halted at Southampton at the weekend and they will look to get back on track with a home match against QPR. The other match sees Coventry City taking on Blackburn Rovers.
Betting
When the midweek fixtures were looming the Coventry City vs Blackburn Rovers match felt like a great way to get stuck in because there are issues with both teams defensively but there are also goals in both of them and so I like the idea of this match being full of goals. Coventry have already had a 3-3 at home this season and haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last five matches, with even QPR and Huddersfield Town finding the way to goal against them.
Blackburn go into this match with the shorter turnaround which in itself isn’t going to help them and their defence has seriously gone AWOL at times this term. Sunday was the second time in succession that they have conceded four goals, admittedly to the top two teams in the table, but two of the three matches before that saw them ship three goals. Blackburn have only kept one clean sheet all season but have only been shut out once too. I like over 3 goals in this one.
