We have another full set of fixtures in Skybet League 2 on Saturday and given the tightness of the league table it should be a really exciting group of matches and we head towards the 25% mark for the season already.
Just two points separate Luton in second place to Crawley in 12th so nearly every match on Saturday is going to be keenly contested and whoever gets the three points on offer is likely to make significant ground in the right direction.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
Barnet v Leyton Orient
Cambridge v Accrington
Carlisle v Colchester
Cheltenham v Luton
Crawley v Blackpool
Crewe v Mansfield
Grimsby v Hartlepool
Newport v Stevenage
Notts County v Morecambe
Plymouth v Yeovil
Portsmouth v Doncaster
Wycombe v Exeter
Big Matches
The biggest match of the day unquestionably comes from Fratton Park where fourth placed Portsmouth host third placed Doncaster in a match between two sides who will be looking for automatic promotion this season. Leaders Plymouth play host to Yeovil at Home Park while second placed Luton head to Cheltenham. Notts County host Morecambe in an all-top 10 battle.
Best of the Rest
Down at the bottom of the table Newport will begin life without Warren Feeney when they host Stevenage with both sides starting to struggle this season. Wycombe meet Exeter in another match between two sides at the wrong end of the table. Cambridge have started to pull away from the bottom of the table and they host Accrington while Carlisle welcome Colchester to Brunton Park.
Betting
Once again I’m going with two bets this week with the first of those being my own side Luton. On the face of it one win in four matches isn’t good for Luton but actually they should have had all three points at Hartlepool on Tuesday night despite some big name absentees.
One of those, Danny Hylton, returns from suspension here and I expect Luton to be much the better for it and I think they can win at Cheltenham who are really struggling on their return to the Football League. Cheltenham have only won one home game this season which was against a hit or miss Crewe side but Notts County and Doncaster have already won there and I think Luton can do likewise.
Hartlepool managed to hold Plymouth last weekend but not many other sides have been able to do that and I’m not convinced that Yeovil will fare much better on Saturday. Yeovil’s sole win on the road this season has been at Leyton Orient who swiftly moved their manager on after that so that isn’t a huge form guide.
Plymouth might not have been at their best against Hartlepool last weekend but they went well in midweek and can get back to winning matches in front of their own fans in this one.
