Tuesday night brings about another round of fixtures in League Two with a number of sides looking to continue their push towards the top of the table going into the busy Xmas period which is rapidly approaching.
Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows:
Accrington v Hartlepool
Wimbledon v Dag & Red
Bristol Rovers v Stevenage
Crawley v Northampton
Luton v Carlisle
Mansfield v Exeter
Morecambe v Cambridge
Notts County v Barnet
Oxford Utd v Newport
Plymouth v Leyton Orient
Portsmouth v York
Yeovil v Wycombe
This isn’t the best set of fixtures it has to be said with a number of short prices on the list although unlike on Saturday some of them can have a case made for them. Even then I’m wary because these midweek matches do provide some strange outcomes at times.
Oxford and Portsmouth are the shortest in the betting on Tuesday and both are expected to win but Oxford struggled past Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday while Portsmouth have been useless at home so far this season so they can be swerved. The days where I back Accrington at odds on still haven’t arrived and may never do.
Of the more tighter looking matches I nearly took Wycombe at Yeovil but Sturrock has got some reinforcements in at Huish Park so now might not be the time to take them on. Cambridge are in rotten form but I’m not sure Morecambe can be trusted.
I considered taking Northampton at Crawley but somehow Crawley have a couple of wins under their belts and I read that the Cobblers might be without Marc Richards which would be a serious blow to their chances.
In the end it is just two home sides for me. The first of those is an AFC Wimbledon side who are in decent nick at the minute. They are unbeaten in five matches and are pushing on towards the playoffs these days.
The Dons host Dagenham & Redbridge in a London derby and I like the home side. The Daggers haven’t won in 10 matches in the league and are really struggling. They almost got a good result at the weekend but lost to Oxford late on which might further dent their confidence. All that leads me to thinking that the hosts are good things here.
The other side I like are leaders Plymouth. They host a Leyton Orient who regular readers will know I really don’t rate. Quite what Orient have done to be favourites on a long journey like this I’ve no idea but I’m more than prepared to take them on.
Plymouth haven’t always pulled up trees this season and lost the derby to Exeter at the weekend but I expect that defeat to have fired them up and given them a point to prove. Luke McCormick is expected to return in goal and Argyle’s injury crisis appears to be easing.
I’m not convinced Plymouth are as good as their lofty position but they are better than Orient and I’ll take them to prove that here.
