South Africa drew first blood in their short T20 series with Bangladesh last week and on Sunday they will be looking to secure another short format win when the two sides meet in the final game to end the Asian side’s tour.
Bangladesh are yet to win a match on this tour and they have one last chance to do so here so we can expect them to be bang at it for one last crack at that elusive victory.
South Africa
It was a good performance from South Africa in the opening game. They excelled with the bat for the most part and then they regained control with the ball after they copped a bit of a beating early doors. There are areas where they can improve in both disciplines but they one thing they can’t be accused of is wilting under pressure.
South Africa haven’t named the strongest bowling attack at their disposal but the one they did pick had plenty of domestic experience and it showed. They didn’t necessarily bowl great with the new ball but I’m not convinced it was as bad as the figures suggested. The positive thing for the Proteas is they have plenty more to come.
Bangladesh
At times in that first game Bangladesh were actually progressing nicely and approaching the halfway mark of their run chase they were ahead of where they needed to be. Unfortunately for them they lacked the mental strength to get themselves over the line. If they can hold their nerve in this second match they might be halfway there.
The other thing they need to improve on is their death bowling. In fairness to Shakib-al-Hasan he is without his best exponents in that area of the game so he has a real juggling act on his hands which is not easy. If they can’t perform better at the death then it might be worth sacrificing a pinch hitter to get them further ahead of the rate.
Team News
South Africa had given off vibes that they were going to play everyone in their squad in these two matches and if they stick to that plan then Mangaliso Mosehle, Tabraiz Shamsi and Dwaine Pretorius could get a game.
Bangladesh are expected to add another batsman to their ranks with Liton Das or Nasir Hossain favourites for the role. The latter could be preferred as an all-round option.

Betting
I think we saw in the first match that Bangladesh are likely to be a lot more competitive than many expected but I’m still not sure I trust their bowling attack to defend a total regardless of how big it is.
Given that, I will take a performance for this match which comes in the form of Mahmudullah. In fairness he is yet to catch fire in the limited overs spell of this tour but he did make 66 in the Test match here so he has good vibes of this Potchefstroom track. Throw in that he’ll likely bowl a few overs and is a decent fielder and I think he can cover 24.5pts.
