The second weekend in February has arrived which means that it is time for ‘The Greatest Show on Turf’ as the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs head to State Farm Stadium in Arizona for Super Bowl LVII.
These two sides are fairly recent winners of the Super Bowl so they will know what it is all about. The Eagles will be looking to make it three straight NFC winners while the Chiefs will look to reclaim the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the AFC.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles head to the Super Bowl as the team with the best record in the regular season and beat the team many thought would be the champions when the postseason began, in the form of the San Francisco 49ers. That told everyone that the Eagles are ready to win the Super Bowl and now they get the chance to do exactly that. The NFC champions are marginal favourites to land the big dance.
There are two very obvious reasons for that. The first one is because they are probably the best team in the NFL this season for running the ball and therefore controlling the clock. The other reason is their brilliantly balanced defence has no weakness. The pass rush is right up there with the best this season and the secondary is making good plays too. That might be important. The other thing which shouldn’t be underestimated is the passing game where Philadelphia have a brilliant wide receiver pairing in A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith.

Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs probably haven’t been tested in the same way that the Eagles have been in this run in the postseason but they have had to take care of a couple of dangerous young quarterbacks, which they have done with a fair bit in hand. The big advantage the Chiefs have now is a lot of this team have competed in Super Bowls recently so they know exactly what to expect from the big occasion and how to manage themselves and things.
One of the reasons why the Eagles offense doesn’t get the overall recognition it probably should do is because the Chiefs offense is so strong. Patrick Mahomes has just been confirmed as the MVP this season and he’ll look to lead his side to the title once again. He has a number of receiving options to throw to and if this becomes a shootout you’d fancy Kansas City to come out on top but their defence will need to make plays to slow Philadelphia down for that to happen.
Betting
This should be a brilliant Super Bowl between the two number one seeds from the regular season and it is very hard to call a winner. The Philadelphia Eagles have been the best team in the league this term but I can’t get away from the statistic that the three times they have surrendered over 300 offensive yards they have lost each time. It would take a monumental effort to keep the Kansas City Chiefs below that number given how aggressive and balanced on offense the AFC champions are.
I always think a team who have fuel from losing are a dangerous proposition and that is what the Chiefs are full of after their last tilt at the Super Bowl. While they probably aren’t as reliable on defence as the Eagles are, they have an elite pass rusher and if he can even slow Jalen Hurts down it will make a big impression on the game. The Chiefs are used to being involved in shootouts whereas a number of the Eagles wins have been one-sided affairs. If Mahomes and co can draw Philadelphia into the match they want I fancy they can outgun their opposition.
