The final televised match of the week in the Super League sees the Catalans Dragons hosting the Salford Red Devils in a match which should contain plenty of attacking and fluent rugby. Both sides are in good form which sets the match up nicely.
Catalans Dragons
The French outfit are the form side in the league right now having won their last six matches and they are starting to look like a train which can’t be stopped. They were the leading scorers going into this round of matches and had the second best defence and as a result they will go level with Warrington at the top with a win.
Catalans will go second with a win and they will be full of confidence having battered Hull KR and St Helens in their last two matches. In those matches they were incredible down their right hand side and that is a threat that Salford will have to prepare for here.
Salford Red Devils
Salford have lacked a little bit of consistency this season but when it has been their day they have looked very good. They have a back line which can open up any defence in the competition but if they do have a weakness is comes in their forwards who can be overpowered at times.
Salford had a good win in the cup last week to back up a very impressive win over Leeds recently so they will have headed to France with their confidence high and ready to lay down a real challenge to the Dragons.
Team news
Catalans have made just one change to their squad with Morgan Escare coming in for Olivier Elima. Eloi Pelissier remains suspended while Paul Aiton is injured so it could be that Thomas Bosc plays at dummy half.
Salford rested a raft of players in the cup last week and we can expect them to all return for this one. Robert Lui’s return to the squad has brought about an upturn in form and his influence can’t be downplayed. His half back pairing with Michael Dobson will be key here.
Betting
As I’ve said for the last couple of weeks it takes a brave man to go against the Catalans Dragons at the minute and that man isn’t me. They look fearsome at the minute and I’m not sure Salford are the ones to stop them.
Salford recently shipped over 30pts to Wakefield and even a struggling Huddersfield side managed to put up 24pts on them so heaven only knows what a rampant Catalans side can do. Salford might bag a couple of tries themselves but over the course of the 80 minutes I expect the Dragons pack to be far too powerful and the class and quality in their backs can ease the French outfit to another big win here.
